FOR THE CROWS NEST METRO.
1. I strongly object to this proposal.
2. I strongly object to a change in planning controls for this site.
THIS AREA IS BEST SUITED TO A 21st CENTURY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY HUB
Contrary to the Metro proposal, I would like low-rise buildings (under
8 storeys) above and around the Crows Nest Metro Station to support
our designation as a health and education precinct
Investment in employment and education should be prioritised to enable
us to meet the jobs target set by the Greater Sydney Commission. This
investment should consider the following in order of importance:
* a high-tech medical and technology park
* a well-endowed TAFE that specialises in technology and other needed
skills for the 21st Century
* space for the elderly to live, such as retirement homes, with green
space
* urban design suited to people with mobility problems so that they
can live and walk safely around the area
* proper open space, not just small areas, for playing and relaxing -
majority of it being grass and trees
* community facilities such as a library, cinema and meeting rooms
* a selective technology high school
* a comprehensive, non-selective high school
We do not need more high-rise residential development in this small
area, the majority of which is not suitable for families - or anyone
-- without adequate green and leisure space around the buildings.
The Metro proposal will degrade and destroy the charm and character of
this area. It is contrary to what was promised and agreed on this
site.
NO ABOVE GROUND CAR PARK
I strongly object to any above ground parking on this site.
We want the area to be as CAR FREE as possible.
WE WANT 21ST CENTURY HEALTH AND RECREATION
Any new buildings should allow for green and recreational space around
them. They should contain services and activities that maintain and
improve the health of our community: such as medical and health care
services; recreational spaces; a performance space; a movie theatre; a
new community centre; more childcare; a start-up hub and serviced
offices.
INTEGRAL TO OUR DEMOCRACY, WE WANT THE PROPER PLANNING PROCESSES
RETURNED TO US.
We are fed up with having our democratic rights, and those of North
Sydney Council, being overridden by the State Government to the
long-term detriment of our community.

Metro development. I know many people in our community feel the same
and we do not want Metro's expensive glossy PR brochures to completely
ignore the objections of many distinguished citizens.
