Wagga Wagga Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Facility

There is absolutely NOTHING good about this filthy, poisonous plan!
We’re all totally sick of being ripped off by Vested Interests with their disingenuous rubbish that’s ruining the Riverina!

Wagga Wagga has always been so agriculturally productive but is fast becoming a toxic dump site instead - with all these disgusting, contaminating plans like TOXIC LITHIUM BATTERY BOMBS, thousands of hectares of leaching PFOS coated, unethical Solar panels & an Intermodel Hub designed to freight stacks of energy depriving rubbish from big cities to Wagga!

I object to Wagga Lithium Battery Recycling Facility as it’s part of the dodgy, underhanded, Energy Poverty TRANSITION TO EXTINCTION.

Where are the batteries being sourced for this "recycling" facility? Will it be from local consumers or the volume of developers planning BESS facilities? Is this business receiving any government funding (taxpayer) for this facility construction and operation? Building hundreds of BESS facilities across NSW, using government funding and then building a recycling facility using government funding will inevitably expedite our economic decline.

The roads will be trashed by the cartage of heavy batteries.....from where exactly? Any fire in this facility will be unable to be extinguished with water. The local emergency services would have no training, equipment or procedures to cope with a disaster involving fire, gas and batteries in this facility. What a toxic disaster.

What a horrible project!
Wagga needs genuinely sustainable & community benefiting projects, NOT poisonous hazards that will ruin our biodiversity & water system, make people sick & probably kill people.

This toxic contaminating, hazardous project is a betrayal of Intergenerational Equity - seriously harming our children’s future — prioritizing corporate exploitation over environmental and public safety.

This is a ghastly plan that has no public benefit whatsoever!
Lithium dust is combustible and deadly — even the smallest error can spark an extremely toxic inferno.

What happens to the components of the batteries that cannot be recycled? Where abouts around Wagga will these toxic materials be buried? Does the proponent really believe that fire hydrants and a few hose reels will suffice to put out run away lithium battery fires at this facility? What will protect the local community from toxic smoke if a large chemical fire breaks out at this facility?

I object to this terrible plan as there is no comprehensive community risk assessment — the entire approval process lacks due diligence.

The “fit out” of the existing office complex for this ECOCIDAL Nightmare masks the fact that this is a Toxic, Industrial Hazard Zone, not a Business Park.
There has been a total failure of Council & DPHI to properly consider the poisonous impacts of these Fake Green plans to our land, water, human beings, stock & wildlife.

I bet the majority of Wagga residents have no idea that loads of defunct lithium ion batteries are heading to town. This is unlikely to be viable as a commercial operation and quite likely to be yet another project heavily funded by taxpayers. Sounds like a toxic hazardous disaster.

It’s completely unacceptable that the disingenuous ‘renewable’ scam - which is the antithesis of ‘clean, cheap & sustainable’ - consistently violates the precautionary principle & all other principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development as no responsible authority would ever approve this disaster without proven safe practices.

How much taxpayer money will be spent on this project? It seems like a huge waste of money that will once again will not be viable as a commercial operation, and so will be funded by taxpayers for no real-world benefit.

This despicable plan is more about subsidies than safety — chasing green grants while risking real red alerts.
A profit-driven firm cannot be trusted to self-regulate safety at a site this dangerous.

This dangerously toxic facility will be a long-term public liability as there is NO Evacuation Plan for surrounding properties - including Governors Hill Estate or an upfront Clean-Up, Decommissioning Bond - so NO Guarantee that the operators will stick around when things go wrong as they inevitably will.

Wagga's healthy food growing image will be destroyed by all these dangerous, contaminating, Fake Green Ruinable Schemes that are seriously toxic, explosive Fire risks with life threatening impacts for Public Health & Safety.

It’s terribly careless, irresponsible & unethical to plan a known hazardous, toxic Fire risk facility within close proximity to other businesses, sporting activities & Governors Hill Estate - where lots of families live.

This obnoxious plan should never be Approved as it is an extremely hazardous, dump-and-run operation — build it, cash in & leave the Wagga community & future generations to deal with the inevitable toxic pollution and risk.

Insurance will rise because of this plate being put anywhere near my properties

The East Wagga industrial estate is surrounded by residential suburbs. I personally live on Inglewood Road directly south east of Edison Road and given that is the prevailing summer wind direction, it would blow the pollution directly at my home. In any case directly east of Edison Road lies Governors Hill and Forest Hill. Again those suburbs don't need the pollution.

The Bomen Industrial Estate would be a much better location for this than East Wagga.
