This Poses a serious risk to Wyong's drinking water supply. It will undermine a major tributary and the void is modelled to soak up 2.5 million litres of water per day for at least 500 years - water diverted from creek and groundwater systems. For these reasons, the mine is opposed by the Central Coast Water Corporation.
The idea Is opposed by Darkinjung traditional owners, who are disgusted with the arrogance the mine proponent has shown them. Rather than seek to make amends with the Darkinjung land council, the company has sought to cut them out of the process.
this decision Is opposed by the directly affected communities of the Dooralong Valley, Blue Haven, and Wyee areas, whose health and livelihoods are threatened by the project. It is unfair and undemocratic to ask local residents to bear the impacts of a project that will provide no overall public benefit.
Is of highly dubious commercial viability. The ultimate owners of the project, the Korean Government, recently announced a strategic restructure for their resources companies, including Kores, away from thermal coal. In fact, the thermal coal industry is in the throes of terminal decline - many analysts expect the market will never recover, in the face of accelerating global climate change and the rapid development of renewable energy. The "economic assessment" put forward by the mine proponents is completely untrustworthy, and there is no reason to expect the mine would provide the long term financial benefits to NSW - in the form of jobs and royalties - that are promised.

I object to the Amended Development Application for the Wallarah 2 coal mine. The amended application does not reduce the overall impacts of the mine proposal, which far exceed any benefits it would bring to NSW. Even then it will only benefit a few ( Coal is old school, no one wants it any more that is why their share prices are dropping). However is is guaranteed to ruin many working families lives.
Undermining the creeks that provide drinking water to hundreds of thousands of people is risky and necessary. If we lost Jilliby Jilliby Creek to this mine, how would that damage be undone? We can't drink coal, or money. We can't replace our creeks.

If you decide to go ahead, as a nurse working at Gosford hospital I would like to see you contribute several billion to out hospital to take up the extra cases of respiratory conditions we will certainly be seeing! We don't have enough room or facilities to cope with what we have now!
I am shocked that you closed the concrete recycling plant at Avoca, which has been working for 20 yrs providing a wonderful environmentally friendly service to the community because a street full of people WHO MOVED there knowing there was a working concrete recycling company at the end of their road. Yet you would consider starting a MINE in a place where none of the residents want one for a product that will ruin the environment there FOREVER, and will only benefit a few.
I have to conclude from this that MONEY TALKS!

Many of the families of recently closed coal mines either on the central coast or Lake Macquarie area support your efforts in boosting the local economy with a long life underground coal mine that can bring some stability to local families.
I hope you keep up the good work and wish you the best of futures.
Yours sincerely

As a resident of Wyong shire I am very concerned about contaminated drinking water. I strongly oppose this mine.
Also, the proposed mine is owned by the Korean government so wouldn't our government want to protect our water from being contaminated by another government.
Not only that what is the relevance of coal any more? While there are so many renewable energy sources available today approving a mine such as this goes against humankind. It will only add to existing greenhouse gases that are ruining our planet for future generations.

Currently Korea is withdrawing in a lot of its international resources and this is not a good sign for KORES. Should we really be allowing a third party into our sacred and pristine Yarramalong and Dooralong valleys? Once the damage has been done there is no turning back.
In an economic view it still has a relatively low benefit. With providing more indirect jobs that will be only on a temporary basis it does not provide the area the stability it needs.
It's ridiculous.

I have already opposed this mine and the peoples voice was heard by the local government, evidently someones palm was covered in cash and its going ahead again, you should look into corruption at a local, state and federal level. I still don't want this mine and you should ashamed for allowing this process to continue.

1) It endangers the water supplies of the area
2) It will have an adverse impact upon the residents of the neighbourhood - coal dust in atmosphere, heavy traffic on roads.
3) The coal company has slighted the views of the Darkinjung people and treated them disrespectfully.

Recent poor track record from Q.L.D secondary to the demise of the industry shows how we as a community need to adapt and move faster towards a more sustainable future.
