Dear Marcus,
I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because I think it would be a tragedy to destroy historic buildings such as Willow Grove.
New South Wales has lost far too much of its heritage architecture and history, and we need to preserve what is remaining.
Imagine if The Rocks had not been preserved and we were left with some soulless, now dated, buildings in place of priceless history and architecture.
Willow Grove is an important reminder of our early history of European settlement and belongs to all Australians.
Please reconsider the plans to destroy it.

I strongly object and oppose to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because you are destroying the history of Parramatta.
Whilst I do not resent the idea of the Powerhouse Museum moving to Parramatta, it’s the poor and senseless planning that in creating this museum we would just destroy the past. Willow Grove & St Georges Terraces are museums in their own right. They tell a story of Parramatta’s past in an evolving city.
It is simply inexcusable to destroy fine architecture and remove the past of Parramatta. You are extinguishing the community’s connection with what is our heritage, what we hold of significance and value in our area.
Here are some possible solutions, how about incorporating these buildings into the construction of Powerhouse Museum OR find a different location to build the museum.
I oppose the destruction of Willow Grove & St Georges Terrace and say NO to the construction of the Powerhouse Museum if these buildings are not left standing.

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because of the destruction of Willow Grove & St George’s Terrace.
We have so little extant built heritage & to demolish these buildings for lack of care & thought is inexcusable.
They should be preserved, used & treasured - England, Europe & America can manage it- why can’t we in NSW??
I don’t want my name or details published

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..
1. I believe strongly in keeping our heritage and readapting it for reuse. Otherwise we end up with soulless generic buildings that could be anywhere and have no connection to our history. Both Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace have a strong connection to who we are as Australians and how we have become the country we are. Let’s not just tear them down for another big building.
2. I believe in having a museum of the Powerhouses caliber but in the Cumberland Hospital precinct as part of an inspired cultural precinct and hub. This is a wonderful opportunity to thoughtfully reuse that site for the people of western Sydney.
We should look to the future while valuing our very important past.
Both Willow Grove an St George’s Terrace have stood the test of time.
Please let them continue to do so.

Dear Marcus, I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because..
I have grown up with being in the city which is central to everything , being able to take visitors , friends and family and mainly my grandkids there on a regular basis will no longer be an option if it moves to Parramatta
Tourists come to the city central to enjoy the museum’s , city sights and the Power House but this will not travel to Parramatta neither will we

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because the Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace are unique and important heritage areas that need to be saved. Also the Powerhouse Museum needs to stay in its inner city , purpose built location.
I have not made any reportable political donations and I wish my name to be excluded from the submission

I object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because the destruction of Willow Grove would be a disaster for Parramatta history. The Cumberland Hospital precinct is the ideal area keeping the history there as well.

Dear Marcus,
I strongly object to the Powerhouse Parramatta project because it is totally ludicrous to destroy heritage in order to build some expensive, frequently substandard structure in order to display our heritage.
Where is the sense or logic? Willowgrove is a beautiful example of Austalias past.
Please think outside the square and preserve our Heritage.

I OBJECT TO THE PROPOSED LOCATION OF THE ‘NEW’ POWERHOUSE MUSEUM PARRAMATTA
I have not made any reportable donations.
I have long term links to Parramatta:
- I worked here from 1977 to 1988
- I lived here from 1983 to 1985 and now live here again - from 2018 to date
- In the interim years I lived in Epping – within the Parramatta LGA
- I have been closely involved in various community projects and volunteering activities in Parramatta since my retirement in 2007
- In 2008 I was Parramatta’s ‘Senior Citizen of the Year’ for this work
I am not objecting to the construction of a new museum in the Parramatta City area (following from the recent and eminently sensible announcement that the Ultimo Powerhouse is to remain at its current location); I am objecting to its proposed location. I am objecting on the following grounds:
- much of the proposed new space is planned to be for entertainment and functions – not a museum. This is misleading. The new spin now is that we will get two museums – this is at best misleading. I object to an entertainment precinct being touted as a museum
- The construction of the proposed building on the proposed site would need the destruction of ‘Willow Grove’ and the St George terraces. Both have substantial cultural and historical significance that can never be replaced. They must not be lost
- There is no need to destroy these sites – alternative designs could readily be developed that would save them both - especially now that the Ultimo Powerhouse is no longer to move here
- There is no need to build it at this proposed site – there are other sites where building would not necessitate the destruction of history – these are on the record
- In its haste to be a major CBD, much of Parramatta’s history is under stress and threat – once the Lennox Tower, Meriton’s huge towers and the other new developments already under way are completed the nature of this part of Parramatta will be vastly changed. There is no need to further compromise that future with the proposed ‘museum’
- with ‘Willow Grove’ and The Terraces gone and buildings like the ‘El Phoenician’ demolished (for walkways to the proposed building) the character of this area will be gone – we will have lost the opportunity for it to be constructively preserved as a living part of our city and our sense of history and place
- Parramatta is an historical jewel that we all have responsibility for. It can be a major city that also preserves its history. It wouldn’t be the first to achieve this. We just need the will. Now.
