Part 5 Activities

Determined

Gabion repair - Boolijah Creek Bridge - Braidwood Road Main Road 92 - Tianjara

Shoalhaven City Council

The proposed activity is the remediation of damaged gabion walls on the abutments and wingwalls either side of the bridge on Braidwood Road crossing Boolijah Creek, Tianjara. The existing gabion walls were damaged by the 2019/2020 Currowan Bushfire. Remediation would involve the following works:
• stripping of vegetation and additional debris from the face of existing gabions
• some removal of trees from the top of the abutments to allow access for excavator arm and “man basket”
• application of steel fibre reinforced shotcrete onto existing gabion wall face.
Works would be conducted entirely from Braidwood Road with the site compound in a pre-existing cleared road verge to the east of the bridge. Positioned on the bridge or approaches, a 35 tonne long-reach excavator would be used to suspend shotcrete operators via a “man basket”. A 32-35 metre concrete boom pump would be positioned on the approaches to the bridge.
