Construction of 2 storeys above the ground level cafeteria for the purpose of providing a general maths and student hub for students and staff

Approval is sought for the vertical extension of the approved cafeteria development involving the construction of 2 storeys above the level 1 cafeteria for the purpose of providing a general maths and student hub for students and staff.
The level 1 cafeteria is approved but not yet constructed. If this DA is approved, the three levels will be constructed at the same time.
In the event that the subject application is approved, the modifications required to the level 1 cafeteria (i.e., the removal of the roof and the changes to the floor plan to accommodate to the lifts and stairs) will be undertaken under clause 36 of the Education SEPP as ‘development permitted without consent.’ A further decision statement will be issued pursuant to section 4.2 of the Code to provide for the minor changes needed to facilitate the level 2/3 vertical extension. Council may choose to impose a condition of consent to ensure that the required modifications to the cafeteria are approved prior to the issue of the construction certificate for levels 2 and 3.
The proposed maths and student hub facility is intended to augment and enhance existing similar maths facilities that are of a lower standard on the Barker College site. The proposal does not seek an increase in the maximum number of students and staff set by Condition 60 of DA/1194/2016.
