Review of the R1 General Residential Zone

To create greater consistency and public confidence in the application of the primary residential zones across the MidCoast area in the short-term, pending the completion of the MidCoast LEP over the longer term.

Specifically, this planning proposal will amend the R1 General Residential land use table in Greater Taree LEP 2010. The R1 General Residential zone is currently an open zone, permitting innominate uses with consent. Innominate uses are uses not defined in the LEP.

The review of the R1 land use table will create a closed zone, consistent with the structure used for the R2 Low Density Residential and R3 Medium Density zones in the two other MidCoast Council LEPs, being Great Lakes LEP 2014 and Gloucester LEP 2010.
