Review of clause 4.6 of the Standard Instrument LEP

The department exhibited an Explanation of Intended Effect (EIE) on the proposed amendments to clause 4.6 of the Standard Instrument LEP from the 31 March until 12 May 2021.

The EIE also sought feedback on proposed measures to increase transparency, accountability and probity by strengthening council reporting requirements on variation decisions.

Thank you to everyone who made a submission. Feedback to the exhibition led to further refinement of the proposed changes.

We consulted on the revised reforms in a series of workshops with targeted councils, industry peak bodies, planning consultants and lawyers during 2022 and 2023.

The revised reforms were introduced through legislative changes made on 15 September  2023 and will come into effect on 1 November 2023.

Find out more about the reforms on our webpage.
