The draft energy policy framework was on exhibition from 14 November 2023 to 29 January 2024.
On 28 October 2024, the NSW Government released the final framework, renamed to the Renewable Energy Planning Framework.
The framework provides communities, councils and the energy industry with clarity and transparency for how renewable energy projects and transmission infrastructure are assessed and managed.

Submissions and what we heard
The framework has been developed based on consultation with community and industry stakeholders, including feedback received through the public exhibition process. All submissions received during exhibition are available to view below.
A range of changes were made to the draft framework to address comments and concerns, including amendments to the visual impact assessment process, additional guidance on benefit sharing, simplified guidance on private agreements, and more.
Read more about the key themes of the consultation, what’s been done to address these, and further actions being taken by the NSW Government in the Renewable Energy Transition Update.
