Community Consultative Committees play an important role in the assessment and regulation of State-significant projects by providing a forum for open discussions between companies, communities and local councils about the project. In response to feedback from a range of stakeholders on how to increase the effectiveness of the committees, the Department has made a number of changes. These include: increasing the flexibility of the guidelines so that Community Consultative Committees can be set up for a range of State-significant projects as required revised procedures for the establishment of the committees revised criteria for community representatives new criteria for environmental representatives better guidance on how to conduct committees a new toolkit to assist with the establishment and operation of committees. The guidelines and frequently asked questions can be viewed within the ‘Attachments & Resources’ folder on this webpage. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback during our community consultation.
