Great Industry for local civilians and opportunities for younger generations

As a small business in the Illawarra it is essential large projects in the local Steel Industry be allowed to proceed to provide continuing employment for my 35 staff. The No.6 Blast Furnace is only replacing the existing No,5 Blast Furnace therefore I cannot see any reason for this not to proceed.

i thoroughly support the project as it will guarentee security for the region for 1000s of local workers. the new 6BF will be more efficent with newer technologies than prevoius. very strongly support

As an individual who has grown up here and multi generational family imigrated here many years ago.

Without BHP we would not have been as fortune as we have been.
My whole family/friends are or were employed by BHP in Port Kembla and as such we all support this and hope to see it prosper.

At present there are no environmentally better ways of making quality iron and none likely in the next 10 years. The BSL proposition includes several changes to the process that will reduce environmental impact compared to the current iron production. The project also includes the structure for further reductions in greenhouse gas by replacing the use of current gasses with hydrogen when it becomes available.
I believe it is a realistic and essential project to maintain or improve the national economy with a reduced impact on the environment.

This project is a significant project for the area, state and country. With the environmental and technological controls proposed I strongly support the project.

The project will provide a future to the steelmaking industry and will enable to adapt to any emerging technologies to ensure to meet future carbon targets and emissions.

The project will ensure that steel continues to be made in the Illawarra. This will ensure that our local economy continues to have a strong backbone also, this will ensure that the creation of jobs continues well into the future. The reline will ensure that local businesses that currently support the Steel works will continue to have a steady workflow generated by the works.

This is a major step forward to continue and secure steel production in our country where supply from others could be limited or withheld. It also offers a major allocation for future trade apprenticeships are created and thus a next generation of trades availability

As an employee I'm directly impacted by the outcome of the NSW Government determination.

I support the No.6 Blast Furnace Reline Project as it will positively impact the community through employment (directly and indirectly), investment in our area and improve the environmental impacts of the blast furnace.

I am in support of the project as is creates jobs and a future for the area.

I totally support this project for the sake of the future of Australian Steel.
As steel is the most recyclable product on earth & the effort Bluescope are putting into protecting our environment I feel this project must go ahead.
This will definitely be a positive step, not just for our region, but for our country.

I am an employee at Bluescope Steel with 35 years experience in steelmaking. In that time I have seen numerous improvements to make our ironmaking and steelmaking processes more efficient with emphasis on safety as paramount to our fellow workmates. Constant improvements to protecting our environment, surrounding community and employees is at the forefront of the steelmaking and ironmaking businesses. The Port Kembla Steelworks is also the largest employer in the Illawarra which allows many Illawarra residents to earn a living and sustain their community. The Blast Furnace reline will allow the Port Kembla Steelworks to continue making quality steel and employee future generations to grow and sustain the Illawarra community and Australia. I fully support this project.
