I am writing on behalf of the residents of 5 Hilar Ave, 9 Hilar Ave, and 11 Hilar Ave in Carlingford to raise our concerns regarding privacy issues related to the nearly finished new building W. We have yet to receive updated landscape plans that incorporate changes to ensure proper privacy screening. I have attached a submission PDF that details our privacy concerns, which include photos taken from our backyards and views from inside our homes, along with our suggestions for your consideration.

As neighbours of the school, we recognize the need for new buildings at CWPS to accommodate the growing population in the area. We understand the importance of this development and have been patient with the construction noise and dust throughout the process. However, the privacy issue remains a major concern that requires immediate attention.

Building W is a two-storey structure that stands out in both height and size compared to the surrounding residential buildings. Once completed, it will house hundreds of students and numerous staff members. The privacy concerns extend beyond our backyards to the privacy of every classroom. Although the photos may not fully convey the privacy issues, we are more than happy to welcome applicants and assessors to visit and inspect the situation from both the school and our backyards.

Urgent attention Regarding Privacy Issues Due to School Construction

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to formally express our serious concerns regarding the construction of the school building - Carlingford West Public School and Cumberland High School (SSD-43065987-MOD-2) in our backyard, which has severely compromised our residential privacy. The newly constructed windows and staircases of the school directly overlook our bathroom, living room, and backyard, creating a significant invasion of our private space.

Specifically, there is a section of about 15 meters between 7 and 9 Hilar Avenue that lacks a mature tree to act as a privacy buffer due to the dead tree #45 removal years ago.

These privacy violations are in clear contradiction to the terms outlined in our previous agreement. The impact on our daily lives is substantial and unacceptable. Despite the presence of these trees, the building across remains clearly visible, which raises concerns about privacy and the intended purpose of the greenery.

Given the severity of the issue, we urge the relevant authorities to take immediate action to address this matter and implement necessary corrective measures.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this issue and look forward to your response at the earliest convenience.

Attached photos from bathroom, living room, and backyard which cannot upload.

Why bother sending the affected residents all these documents which are extremely difficult to read and/or understand. Drawings that are so complex it is impossible to see what is affected or not.

You have not listened to our concerns in the past, continue ignore and treat us with contempt.
