I support the proposal, for myself currently working at HVO and for the future of the Hunter valley it will be a knock on effect to all small businesses around the area as it employs 1500 direct and contract workers. Keeping the economy alive in the area.

Jobs for the Hunter means a future for the Hunter. With industry closing down everywhere it just makes sense to support the industry that supports you.

Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) provides a significant number of direct and indirect job opportunities to the Hunter region and surrounding areas. It plays a central role in supporting families by offering stable employment pathways — from apprenticeships and graduate programs for young people beginning their careers, through to long-term roles that sustain workers right through to retirement
HVO also has a strong track record of community engagement, actively investing in local schools, sporting clubs, charities, and community initiatives. These programs not only strengthen social connections but also provide opportunities for education, training, and youth development.

I support this project.
I have been fortunate to experience and witness the planning and execution of this type of project. I in particular am impressed with HVO's attention to detail and compliance around environmental consent. I can see firsthand the systems and resourcing in place to ensure the project is executed as per the EIS commitments and the operation is manned to comply to community expectations moving forward.

We need to stop digging up coal now! This is important for our future and especially our kids future. The science is clear. No more new coal mines! The people of nsw( and the world] get no benefit from this only harm. A few mine owners make money and pay little or no tax on their profits. There are so many environmental reasons why we shouldn't expand this mine. All this is true and you know it. But the main reason is so that we don't keep polluting the air with carbon emissions and risking a climate catastrophe.

I OBJECT TO THIS PROPOSAL. When are we going to stop putting short term profit over people and environment? We cannot meet our net zero requirements if we keep opening and expanding new coal mines.

I object to this project due to the massive level of environmental destruction that it will cause to this area, including vegetation, water and local fauna. It poses an unacceptable risk to the local environment, and flies in the face of emission reduction targets. We need to be moving away from coal to cleaner energy solutions, not expanding coal projects and damaging our native environment.

I strongly support the continuation and expansion of the HVO South open cut coal project. The expansion is critical to maintaining employment and economic stability across the Hunter Valley and New South Wales more broadly.

HVO South directly sustains a large workforce while also providing vital opportunities for contractors and suppliers across a wide range of industries including transport, maintenance, equipment, engineering, and professional services. Each job supported by this project contributes not only to the individual employee but also to the financial security of families and the economic health of regional communities.

The flow on benefits extend well beyond the mine itself. Local businesses, from small retailers and service providers to accommodation and hospitality operators, depend on the activity generated by HVO South. The expansion will ensure this important multiplier effect continues, preserving both direct employment and the broader network of indirect opportunities.

The HVO South expansion is not just a project continuation but an investment in stability and livelihoods. Its ongoing operation is essential to the resilience of local communities and the prosperity of the region.

I strongly support the extension of the HVO mines. The operation provides significant local employment, supports businesses in our community, and contributes to the regional economy. Importantly, HVO has a track record of operating responsibly, with strict environmental and safety standards. Closing the mines prematurely would have a serious negative impact on workers, families, and the wider community. Extending their operation ensures ongoing stability and economic benefits.

I object to the expansion of the coal mine. Australia woefully drags the chain behind the world in technology and advanvement. Australia should not exyract any more coal for any purpose. Australia should invest in better technology for a bettet world. Not be the leader in climate change.

HVO supports such a large part of our local Hunter Valley economy not to mention the wider NSW economy through jobs and continued royalties. As a state we have not progressed the reliability of renewable energy to the point where thermal coal will no longer be needed in the short to medium term. Thus continuing to support local companies and employers to produce our raw material requirements makes more sense than having an inferior product being shipped from overseas or in turn over seas producers increasing their outputs from inferior coal because they can no longer import NSW coal.
I support decarbonisation, but at this stage I believe NSW is in a far better position to manage and decarbonise our local coal operations than relying on international coal that does not have the same regualtory standards that our operations adhere to.
