HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project

I support the continuation project at hvo. This is beneficial to the whole community and economy.

I think the benefits of this mine far outweigh any negatives, it's only continuing the same mine, I would like to see HVO continue to operate

i support this project as it supports families in the local area, not just in the mining industry.
HVO put in procedures for the environment and protect Aboriginal heritage.

Please approve the continuation of hvo. This is a massive benefit for the economy and community local and afar.

I am proud to support the HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project. The mine has been operating for 70 years, providing continuous employment for the local community. I understand there will be little change to the scale or intensity of mining and no increase to approved annual production rates.

HVO has always effectively and efficiently managed community impacts.

My family has been involved in local coal mining for generations. My grandfather, father, brothers, husband and son were and are all proud mine workers.

The coal mining industry in the Hunter Valley provides employment for all levels of expertise. My father looked after pit ponies at Stockrington Mine, my husband was an engineer in coal preparation and my son is currently manager of a local mine.

Having lived in Singleton, I see a community supported by various mining companies. I see many small businesses shooting up in the area providing support to the coal mining industry by way of either consumables or expertise.

The town of Singleton was largely a farming community until mining commenced here. This resulted in shopping centres going up, Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and Bunnings to name a few, coming to our town.

I see no downside to the HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project, only positives with regard to local jobs and mining royalties adding to state revenue. Without coal mining, how would we continue to fund our hospitals, schools, police, etc?

I fully support the HVO South Open Cut Coal Continuation Project.

Hunter Valley Operations gives me job security and provides an income for my family and I. The company also provides job security for a lot of contractors and businesses that HVO use. The Australian economy also benefits from this Continuation Project..

I currently work at hvo and I support the approval for hvo to expand. Hvo provides for my growing family and the surrounding communities and I personally wouldn’t know what to do without it.

Great company that supports the community and puts food on the table for the 1500 + employees , I work at HVO North Trucks and want to be a permanent employee and have a secure job for the next 20+ years.

HVO will:
• provide around 1500 ongoing local jobs and 600 temporary jobs while upgrading infrastructure
• support suppliers and businesses – HVO spends more than $500 million annually with more than 700 suppliers, many of them local
• support community groups and charities through its community grants, charity partnerships and fundraising, workplace giving and sponsorship programs
• support governments to provide hospitals, schools, roads and other community infrastructure through taxes and royalties.
My small family business relies on mining to feed my children.

The issue of intergenerational equity has many facets. One of these is that the current generation has a duty to use natural resources responsibly. Through its actions, the current generation must not deny future generations access to natural resources. The project involves a responsible degree of resource recovery - a recovery factor that benefits from existing infrastructure and points of access. Premature closure of the mining operation, on the other hand, would see significant resources sterilised if a future generation elected to mine the resource following closure and rehabilitation of the current works. The project should be supported subject to compliance with reasonable environmental safeguards.

We need to support Local jobs, this project will support the community and businesses for the next 27years

This is a critical project to the community and the state

This project will benefit a wide range of individuals, from businesses, local schools and communities, right through to supporting welfare agencies such as Rotary, Lions Club etc with funding and financial grants, open days and sponsored events.
Employment on site also benefits due to production numbers needed creating job opportunities

The continuation of Hunter Valley Operations will secure jobs into the future of not only the permanent employees but contractors like myself. HVO are active in the community through sponsorships and donations and have very strict environmental policies to protect the environment.

HVO has employed me for my apprenticeship and supported me throughout. When I finished my apprenticeship they have employed me into a full-time role and now I continue to work for HVO. The continuation of the mine would allow myself and many of the other apprentices to have continued work for potentially the rest of our careers.
