land and effect the gun range on our property due to the reflections
and glare from the panels, as well as the natural wild life as it take
up such a large space of land as well as the disturbance of
earthmoving and construction to install the project. it will also be
an eye saw and could attract vandals and thefts and unwanted attention
to the area.

My reasons as listed below -
The proposed site on the Orange Grove Road via Gunnedah is subject to
flooding as indicated in the SMEC report of 2003 - Four historical
floods in 1955, 1984, 1998 & 2000 indicate flood water across the
Solar Farm site. Local knowledge & landholders with their historical
records indictes this area was cover by local & regional waters that
closed access to the Gunnedah Coucil Orange Grove Road.
The perimeter chain mesh security fence around the boundary of the
development footprint & the solar panel support posts will redirect
water flow of a flooded Namoi River. This will have an impact of
redirecting water downstream on properties & their infrastructure
around the Solar Farm.
There is a real issue with flood waters as the Namoi River flows
beside the proposed development site & there is no scientific data
indicating that a new report has been done.
There is nothing in the EIS explaining what the dimensions for the
chain mesh fencing is or any details on construction. It will hold up
water with sticks & flood debris from upstream causing water to slow &
flood longer the neighboring properties downstream. More damage to
homes, sheds & fencing.
Lack of representation to me as a local rural worker on a property
close by as my Boss has limited knowledge as well. The community
information is extremely limited. I am not a member of the Pistol Club
but reflection & glare from the solar panels will be a problem as too
any drivers on the Orange Grove Road at certain times of the day.
The EIS states there was a fact sheet left at Carroll Store, Bowls
Club - do not socialise there ....but a fact sheet in our mail box
would have been great !!! Have not seen any social media on Orange
Grove Solar Farm but plenty on Photon Energy submission.
Huge concern for the little kids catching the school bus with the dust
on the unsealed Orange Grove Road with the increase of vechiles to
develop the solar farm.
I like the idea of solar & renewable energy but I do object the the
proposed location on the Orange Grove Road for the Orange Solar Farm &
Overland project.

I object to Orange Grove Solar Farm (application number SSD882) being
built next to rural farming areas that could be affected from dust and
changes in the land areas hydrology.
The residents at R1 are meters from this project and I have grave
concerns for their health and mental wellbeing should this project go
ahead, the close proximity to the residence at R1, would be negatively
affected during the development stages of the project, due to noise
and dust pollution and a lack of privacy.
In the long term, during the operational period, the proximity to the
dwelling on R1 is at excessive risk to Electro Magnetic Radiation,
disruptive reflective interference as sun hits the panels and
penetrates the dwelling, the increased temperatures likely due to the
large number of panels and their close proximity to the dwelling on
R1.
I am concerned about the noise these numerous panels emit when in
operation on their rotational axis. An ear piercing noise that would
effect residents of R1's quality of life due to the close proximity of
the Orange Grove Solar Farm.
This noise could adversely affect livestock.
The hydrology of the zone where the proposed project is planned, I
believe to be unsuitable due to flooding.
Corporations should be held to the same standards, (if not higher
standards) than Primary Producers, a construction of this type of
development should take in to consideration the impacts of a 1 in 100
year flood.
The already receeding koala habit in the Gunnedah area is at risk of
further decimation should their habitat be further reduced upon the
implementation of this project.
"Gunnedah's koala numbers are believed to have decreased by more than
half since 2008" Cassie Hough ABC Rural
Reconsider this development, it's location and impacts on surrounding
land.
Preserve areas of biodiversity in Australia .

Applicant Overland Sun Farming Pty Ltd
Application No: SSD 8882
I OBJECT to the proposal,
Reasons for my objection to the proposal are in my submission.
I OBJECT to the proposal for the following reasons:
1. My Parents own a property that will be directly impacted by this
massive project.
The stress and emotional torment this major project has placed on my
parents over the last 5 months trying to get answers of their very
valid questions and concerns, has been monumental, and still no
further progress in getting valid answers!!!
2. No solar farm should be placed on good cropping primary production
land, or beautiful improved pastures some of the best in the area its
absurd, with the way in which our farmer are struggling in this
country, to use land of this nature for an undertaking like this
proposed solar farm.
3. Surrounding residents have not been taken into consideration at
all, in actual fact they have been treated as mushrooms and fools,
exceptionally disrespectful.
4. The Liverpool plains are not the place for two major solar farms,
300,000 and 400,000 solar panels on the same road 2 kilometres apart??
All this is doing is turning residents against each other and causing
tension.
In summary perhaps now that this has reached your department we may
get some answers.

I am writing to state my objection to the solar farm proposed to be
built to the adjoining property R1, Orange Grove Solar Farm . I am
concerned about the affect it will have on the livelihood and health
of the family living on that property and properties surrounding.
Already in drought, the dust would be disturbing and could travel
great distance, even with water control, to affect other properties
soil. And if combined with emissions will contaminate grass and water
for the cattle. It is already proposed on a flood zone which presents
other future water problems also.
My family have known the family at property R1 for three generations.
Our family have spent much time working and holidaying on this
property. Over this time they have grown to be extended family. I am
now concerned for their welfare and future with this sun farming
proposal.
As a teenager, I spent many of my school holidays working at the
property and in later years, returned with friends on many occasions
to camp on the mountain. R1 is a special place with lots of history to
me and to others throughout generations. It is unjust to build so
close to a home without consideration for how they can comfortably or
reasonably continue living there with vibrations that could destroy
bores or the home, noise for them and their cattle's health as income,
all is affected throughout a long construction period and possibly the
future with a new industry of solar farming unfortunately forced onto
prime agricultural land.
I believe the introduction of solar farms on either side of R1 will
negatively affect the owners ability to run the farm as it currently
is.The land risks having environmental changes never seen before at R1
and the surrounding homes and properties will bear the consequences of
the proposal. I believe the matter needs to be reinvestigated by the
government.
Yours sincerely,
Justin Hodgekiss

flooding in the location of the proposed site. I spent my childhood &
lived for 25 years on our family property on the Orange Grove Road &
clearly remember the flow of flood water in that area as the Peel
River upstream causes increased flow to the Namoi River. There were
many days the school bus did not run & the Road was closed to traffic
due to flood water.
The SMEC study of 2003 indicates that there was flood water in the
proposed solar farm site in 1984 & 1955 - surely a updated independant
scientific study would show the the same results. This study is 15
years old & it is quite obvious Overland & Orange Grove Solar have not
done their homework .... put forward in the EIS is their statement
quote from 6.9.5 page 138 "the project is unlikely to have significant
impact on local & regional flooding". - SMEC reports indicates flood
water has historically been on this site on the Orange Grove Road.
Visually, the glare from the panels, the dust on an unsealed road with
increased traffic as workers travelling to site location will impact
on the designated school bus route.
My other concern is the security chain mesh fencing that will slow &
redirect water flow & back up water in the system towards the township
of Carroll over the Kilphysic property. As to the poles holing the
solar panel will create the same effect to redirect water onto
neighboring properties causing damage to infrastructure. In the EIS I
cannot find any information what type of fencing will be used around
the solar panels & sub station.
There seems to be limited community consultations & awearness aabout
this particular project.
For the reasons above I am objecting to the Orange Grove Solar Farm -
renewable energy is the way of the future but should not be
established in a flood zone on the Namoi River.
