I object to the proposed extension of the construction hours to 5 pm on Sat (from the current 1 pm). The noise from this project starts early in the morning 6 days a week. Often residents are unable to sit outside due to the noise and they are unable to carry out a conversation. I think that it is unreasonable to extend the hours to the weekend. I would rather have an additional hour added on during the week. Also, it seems to me that there should be some information as to whether the proposed extended hours will shorten the construction timeline. If so, how much will it be shortened...a month...2 months? Or will it simply get the project back to the original timeline. This is information that residents and the council should be informed of given that their outdoor activities on a non-work day will be disrupted. If it is additional time to increase the height (the other modification to which i do not object) I would be opposed to any extension of the construction time on Sat. I am also concerned about the precedent such an extension of Sat. construction time will set. The CBD is dramatically changing, and we are surrounded by, the noise, dust and inconvenience of construction everyday except the weekend. This will be the state of the area for many years to come based on all the development proposals. Will this Sat. hours extension be given out to other construction site across the CBD? What will the basis be for the Council to reject the next application for extended hours? Construction in the area must consider the fact that the area remains home to thousands of people.
