I support the Redbank restart project fully. This project will provide needed base load power generation and is much more envrironmentally friendly that fossil fuel power generation.

This project is important and should be fast-tracked for Approval because they are proposing to use, amongst other things, waste-derived timbers that otherwise must go to Landfill. Sydney landfills some 500,000TPA of timber per year because of the inflexibility of the NSWEPA to allow these timbers to be reused for secondary purposes. As a result, Sydney's landfills are projected by DPIE to be filled by 2028. This project will provide a real option to landfill disposal and generate needed base-load electricity.

Australia is facing a major electricity supply crisis, with the planned closure of the Coal Fired Generators.
We will need a variety of new Zero Emission Low carbon energy resources , being Wind, Solar, batteries and pumped Hydro
It makes sense that we use all available resources.
Redbank Power Station is an existing infrastructure at a minimal infrastructure cost, we have an abundance of Bio-Mass , which a majority of it is already being burnt in the open during land clearing for roads and infrastructure development. This is a major contributor to CO2 emissions which are un controlled
The scientific data for using Bio-Mass in Redbank Power Sation, outlines a clean zero CO2 emissions, so why not utilise a resource that provides a reliable Energy source 24 hours per day, not reliant on Wind or Solar
Verdant Earth Technologies, offers a reliable, efficient means to reduce Bio-Mass and create a reliable long term energy resource at minimal infrastructure cost.
This is a solution we already have available and has the capability to contribute to our needs in a short timeframe, whereas the other options are still many years away

We do not have any choice but to transition from Coal to renewable energy if we want to leave a healthy planet for our future generations and Verdant Earth's initiative to transition from Coal tailings to biomass fuel should be given a chance to run. This not only saves carbon dioxide emissions but it is going to help local economy by creating jobs and will help in energy stability. Thus, I would like to show my support for this project.

I support the project proposed by Verdant Earth Technologies to use biomass as the fuel instead of coal. Biomass is considered carbon-neutral because the carbon dioxide emitted during its combustion is offset by the carbon dioxide absorbed during the growth of the biomass feedstock. it also helps with the local economic development and will ensure energy security. for these reasons, I would like to express my support for the project.

Approving this project should be a no-brainer. This renewable energy project is sorely needed to guarantee adequate base load power into the future as the coal fired generators close down.

The Hunter region has been the center of energy diversity for over 50 years.
As we progress into this diversity of energy in the 21st century many new energy sources will be created, all bringing jobs, STEM building and investment.
To utilise an existing asset and show how past fossil fuel-based energy can diversify into new biomass fuel is something we can show how we can transition. The future of biomass, agriculture, energy, biochar based industries that can produce base load dispatchable energy across the Hunter, across NSW and Australia is something to be supported.
Start looking at a carbon based energy source as our future, not some activist skeptical 'chopping trees down' limited view.
Base load power at emission level far below those that are only a few km away has merit and needs to be supported to show just how we can diversify in NSW.

With 26 million tonnes of invasive woody weeds that will bulldozered and burnt in the paddock, why wouldn't you burn it in a power station to produce power.
The government has to take into account all of the employment that will be created, not only in the hunter valley where the power station is but also in the western lands district, People in these small communities have to cut, chip and transport the product. Even down to the truck companies and their needs, mechanics to service the trucks, the tyre fitters that will replace the tyres. The fuel that will be required from smaller service station on route. It more than just too many trucks on the road.

This project intends to burn invasive trees which are now being knocked down and burnt on the ground . why not burn them to generate power .

It’s important that we have several energy options maintain the integrity of the grid and support intermittent renewables. Plus I’m sick of paying a ridiculous amount of money for power that keeps cutting out when I need it most.

This is a renewable project that will supply much needed green power 24/7 with near net Zoro emissions.
will provide jobs to the community and also to Regional NSW for the next 30+ yearsby replacing fossil fired power plants

Valuable addition to the industrial base of the Hunter Valley and will provide jobs for staff being made redundant by the major existing generators.

The Redbank Power Station is current infrastructure that needs that can be connected to the grid through an existing onsite substation and the existing power lines. Modifications to the current infrastructure are minimal and is limited to the infeed system to accommodate the change of feedstock from fossil fuels such as run of the mine coal and waste coal tailings to renewable purpose grown biomass crops and biomass waste such as invasive native species.
Over my working career I have spent many years working on the beneficial reuse of waste materials, such as waste fuels and road bases etc, and as teh GM or ResourceCo in Adelaide I was instrumental in establishing Australia’s 1st purpose built alternative fuel company in Adelaide providing processed waste materials to the Adelaide Brighton Cement Company for use in the production of Clinker. I also assisted ResourceCo to establish the Wetherill Park alternative fuels business with a similar intent to supply a fuel to specification for Boral’s Berrimah Clinker Kiln, those projects have subsequently been partially sold to Veolia in Adelaide and Cleanaway in NSW
That project was hailed as a 1st for Australia and to this day some 18 years later is still recognised as one of the most innovative beneficial reuses of waste materials in Australia.
The Redbank Power Station whilst classed as utilising waste materials will be quite different and I believe a much more exciting project in that at least 50% of the feedstock will ultimately be from purpose grown biomass crops, with the potential to create a 2.5M tonne perpetual carbon sink, Redbank will prove that Australia can/should have an energy industry from biomass providing the much needed baseload energy that will support the use of intermittent renewables such as wind and solar a restrictive short term electricity supply from Battery Storage.

Fabulous leading net zero project - grow your own solution particularly leads to a negative CO2 solution to 24/7 generation. Use of existing CO2 and photosynthesis to create energy is a great solution. An example of Modern Bioenergy done the right way.

I support the proposal for the following reasons:
a) The restart of the Redbank Power Station using sustainable biomass fuel will help increase the production of green baseload electricity in NSW;
b) The proposal will be the first power station in the Hunter Valley to produce green electricity and completely move away from coal, which should be supported;
c) The proposal will help to drive down emissions from the electricity generation sector and help achieve the NSW and Australian Government's target of net zero emissions by 2050.

e) The production of local fuel crops, by growing them on formerly mined land will help restore and bring these sites into productive use, with environmental and economic benefits;
f) The proposal will create 398 direct jobs for the Hunter region community, being critically important as coal mining in the region declines as the Australian economy transitions to net zero emissions.

I feel the improvements being made to the Redbank Power Station are valuable and a necessary step forward for the Hunter Valley Region and provide a more sustainable method of electricity generation and increased security and stability of the local electricity grid. I believe that this proposed alteration will also offer more significant employment opportunities and, as a result, generate an economic boost to the Newcastle / Hunter Valley Region. As a community we need baseload power in our renewable mix and biomass is one of the forgotten or ignored ways we can do that. It is apparent that we cannot run our country just on wind, solar and batteries, this is a great opportunity to showcase that biomass really works.

I support this project going forward. Why not use biomass from invasive woody species to produce electricity. These plants are to cut down and burnt anyway.
NSW and the grid needs a stable power supply going forward, this project will supply that much needed baseload.
The creation of jobs in the Hunter Valley as we transition away from coal into renewables is what the Government has been talking about for a long time, here is an opportunity do do just that.
