We implore the DPI to consider the CUMULATIVE EFFECT of its approval of the extension of the Duralie coal mine near Gloucester, the Rocky Hill coal project closer to town as well as AGL's CSG pilot project on the value of this prime agricultural valley for agriculture, tourism and the health and wellbeing of the residents of this valley. Water from this area feeds 75,000 people downstream and will be at risk by the proposed extraction industries, and so will the air quality. The topographic uniqueness of this valley causes air to be funneled up to Tamworth, i.e., the environmental impact of what happens in Gloucester will be felt much further away than the valley itself. We residents feel we are pawns in a game played by big business whose financial resources we cannot match, and we are appaled by the lack of support, understanding and protection we should be receiving by our elected officials.

PLEASE STOP THE MINING AND CSG EXTRACTION FROM THE GLOUCESTER VALLEY. THERE ARE OTHER POTENTIAL SITES MORE SUITABLE FOR SUCH ACTIVITIES THAT WILL BE LESS RISKY TO WATER, AIR, AND THE PEOPLE ALREADY LIVING IN THE AREA.

Thank you and regards,

Gaby Klika

My friends and I are regular visitors to beautiful Gloucester and the Barrington Tops area and we are appalled at the prospect of a new coal mine in the valley to the south of Gloucester. If it goes ahead it will destroy the beautiful vista that we always enjoy looking across the Avon Valley and to the Mograni Range. Gloucester being the gateway to the magnificent rainforests of Barrington Tops National Park should be protected.
Information I received explained the National park forms part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia's World Heritage Area. Carved out of ancient volcanic flows, the park rises from near sea level to over 1500m and protects one of the largest temperate rainforests in mainland Australia, along with a host of diverse habitats and wide range of birds and animals. That's why we and many others visit Gloucester. It is essential this is protected.
If the mine proceeds then we will not want to visit this area again. Too bad for the tourism operators, the farmers, the people and businesses of Gloucester. I'm told some surveys showed that well over 80% of Gloucester people don't want this mine and we support their opposition to it. Are these people just expendable, collateral damage?

I am worried too about the safety travelling along the Bucketts Way if the mine should go ahead. It is a single-lane road, in parts narrow and in poor condition, and with absolutely no overtaking lanes. More vehicles, trucks and tankers travelling along it will put users in extreme danger.

I have made no reportable political donations.

I strongly object to the Rocky Hill Coal Project. It is much too close to Gloucester town. Coal dust and noise would adversely affect the whole town, schools, shops and residences. Griselda Browne
