I am writing to formally express my objection to the transmission lines because of an Increased risk of biosecurity issues by the construction workers bringing in invasive weeds and species, to all the properties along the extent of the transmission line in both NSW and in Victoria.
Biosecurity risks such as pests, diseases and weeds are a threat to our agriculture and environment, costing NSW between $1.67 billion and $1.9 billion per annum, according to the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions. Furthermore, all biosecurity risks can spread through the movement of animals, people, machinery, and vehicles, according to the NSW Department of Primary Industies, 2022.
It deeply affects and concerns me that landholders are subjected to biosecurity risks by the workers bringing in invasive weeds and specie into our farmland, as biosecurity measures are mandatory for farms in NSW, as per the Biosecurity Act 2015, which obligates landholders to take reasonable steps to prevent, eliminate, or minomize biosecurity risks. In addition, weeds are a major threat to Australia's natural environment, costing the farmers, community and region considerably to eradicate or control.

I am writting to formally object to the proposed Victoria to NSW Interconnector West project.
I feel the proposed transmission line will have a devastating impact on landholders, inparticular on farmers in both NSW and Victoria whose farmland will be greatly impacted, not only with their livestock in the areas around these large transmission lines, but also affecting their cropping, the use of large farm machinery, and aerial spraying. These large transmission lines will also significantly diminish land values for the affected landholders and farmers. Furthermore, the visual impact of the towing power lines across the productive farmland will be detrimental to the aesthetics of our natural landscape. But moreover, are my concerns with biosecurity issues with not only workers but also vehicles and machinery enteriny farming properties without any regard to the landholders biosecurity, and the high risk of invasive weeds and pests being bought onto their properties. As it costs alot of money for farmers to eradicate and maintenance against invasive weeds and pests on a property.
While I acknowledge the need for a transition to renewable energy, I believe there are more suitable locations for this transmission line. I urge the planning authority to explore alternative routes that avoid productive farmland.
I strongly object to the proposed transmittion line going through highly productive farmland and urge you to reconsider the current route, and look for an alternative route.
