This Lithium Ion battery facility will destroy the landscape and significantly devalue residential, agricultural and commercial properties within Wagga's community. Nobody would want to live anywhere near this heap of fire-causing garbage.

Stop expecting rural NSW and Australia to do the heavy lifting, and have our land destroyed by all these developments/projects. Put this facility closer to the cities if it must be built. You would never do that because there would be too many objections. You expect rural communities to put up with it all. We don't want the fire risk.

It is ironic how these people insist on installing a LPG tank for this project, yet we are told to have solar on our roofs. **insert eye-roll**
It seems that there are different rules for city and rural folk. Is our quality of life (health, fire risks, environment, scenery etc) worth less that those in the city? It seems so.

This infrastructure is too dangerous to the neighbouring/nearby properties and communities. Lithium Ion Batteries are a significant fire risk at the best of times - just look on the news at how many homes go up in flames each week. I object to this project.

What an absolute disaster for the environment. What happens when this catches fire? How many lithium batteries will burn? The risk is too high. These batteries are NOT "green", nor is any process of this.

I wholeheartedly object to such a project located in Wagga Wagga!
The fact that state significant solar factories are proposed for prime agricultural arable land is abhorrent! They should never be considered in this region nor should a recycling facility.
The majority of the companies that propose these “developments” are off shore companies, why should Regional Australia be required to “recycle” (become land fill) these structures that have an extremely short life span!
God help us all if there was to be a fire and all the toxic smoke or waste enter our atmosphere or water supply!
There is zero benefit to the environment, tax payer, or farmer with these developments.
Absolutely no way they belong in our community!

I object to this project because of how highly dangerously flammable Lithium Ion battery storage facilities are and how toxic the smoke from these sorts of extremely flammable projects are that have no business being built on pristine agricultural ground, on grass or anywhere near people, given how extremely likely they will catch fire.

From STOP THESE THINGS 8 June 2024 (https://stopthesethings.com/2024/06/08/__trashed-2/):

When self-immolating lithium-ion batteries start spewing toxic smoke, the action last for days because firefighters won’t go near them. They simply let them burn themselves out, and if that takes a week, so be it.

And it’s not just those in service providing deadly pyrotechnic displays (see above the giant Tesla that burned for days in Victoria). Those past their use by dates are also giving thrilling thermal displays, as they turn their bevy of heavy metals and rare earths into impossible-to-control fires (they can’t be extinguished) and threaten the lives of neighbours for miles around – as occurred recently in France.

And as you can see in this article, fire incident management "mitigation" measures do NOT prevent these sorts of extremely flammable "projects" from catching on fire.

What makes these "projects" even more dangerous, is the fact that they are hooked up to dangerous and flammable high voltage transmission lines, the same sort of transmission lines that started the Black Saturday fires in 2009 that killed 173 people, injured 414 people, and did untold damage to homes, businesses, pets, wildlife, the valuable ecosystem and biodiversity throughout Victoria where a Royal Commission was called to investigate it. Irresponsibly building dangerous and highly flammable "projects" such as these very clearly shows that local, state and federal government have not learned from the 2009 Black Saturday fires and do not seem to realise or care that they are putting themselves at very high risk to be deemed culpable before a coronial inquest, should another Black Satureday fire result from building these sorts of "projects", especially since lithium ion batteries are considered dangerous and highly flammable in the first place.

The whole Renewable switch has been poorly thought out. It is obvious to me that now because of subsidies we are looking down the barrel of a tsunami of toxic waste. I oppose the plan of having a recycling plant thrust upon a beautiful rural community and feel the risk of things going wrong is far too high. When things go bad and they sometimes do, the resultant fires in battery facilities are next level dangerous, putting our firefighters and broader community at risk. Studies from the toxic fall out from smoke have been found to contaminate land and water for up to 20 miles around. Anybody who is truly a champion of a clean green environment would see this as an unacceptable risk. The Riverina is a food bowel for the nation and this needs to be protected.

Calibre Metals’ planned lithium battery recycling facility - involving highly toxic materials and life threatening fire hazards - poses a plethora of seriously detrimental issues to public health, safety, and the environment - including:

1. Environmental Issues
Air pollution: Emissions of toxic gases (e.g., dioxins, hydrogen fluoride, sulfur dioxide, VOCs) during battery shredding or smelting harms air quality.

Water contamination: Leaching of heavy metals (e.g., lithium, cobalt, nickel, lead) and solvents into groundwater and nearby water bodies.

Soil contamination: Accidental spills and improper storage would lead to persistent contamination affecting vegetation and food chains.

Waste mismanagement: Non-recyclable and hazardous residues would accumulate, especially when waste streams aren’t correctly classified or treated.

2. Health and Safety Hazards
Toxic exposure: Workers and nearby residents - including Governor’s Hill Estate - would be exposed to heavy metals, solvents (like dimethyl carbonate)and acidic electrolytes.

Respiratory issues: Inhalation of fine particulate matter and metal dusts causes chronic respiratory conditions.

Cancer risk: Long-term exposure to lithium-ion battery components (e.g., cobalt compounds, NMP solvents) is associated with carcinogenicity.

Thermal runaway and explosions: Damaged and poorly handled lithium cells cause fires and explosions, spreading toxic smoke.

Noise pollution: Grinding, shredding, and processing machinery creates persistent noise issues.

3. Fire and Explosion Risks
Thermal instability: Lithium batteries frequently overheat and combust when crushed or exposed to moisture/oxygen during processing.

Dust explosions: Fine metal dusts (especially from aluminum or lithium) ignite in the air.

Chain reactions: Fire in one storage area or processing machine would quickly escalate across other materials.

4. Regulatory and Planning Concerns
Zoning issues: Highly toxic facilities near residential, agricultural and ecologically sensitive areas violate zoning and planning standards.

Insufficient emergency response: Many Local fire departments lack experience with lithium battery fires and toxic chemical spills with SARET Research NSW admitting that dealing with these experimental kind of toxic, volatile ‘renewable’ related projects lack knowledge and capability (see Reference.)

No Social Licence: Local residents have NOT been consulted, were only just informed by other objectors when this exhibition was almost over & definitely oppose the facility due to its many dangers and the consequential decline in their property values that would inevitably result.

5. Operational and Economic Risks
Technological limitations: Not all battery chemistries are easily or economically recyclable—leading to stockpiling or illegal dumping.

Process inefficiencies: Improper segregation or contamination in input streams can reduce recovery efficiency and increase hazards.

Worker safety costs: Facilities must invest heavily in training, PPE, and monitoring, which will be neglected by under-regulated operators - so typical of the Fake Green RenewaBULL Fraud.

“There is a general lack of guidance and provisions in building codes, standards, and legislation in relation to safety to address the potential risks from these emerging technologies.
Part of the problem is that we do not yet know enough about their probability of failure, their mechanisms of failure and potential consequences of failure.”

I oppose the Wagga Wagga Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Facility (WWLIBRF) because;
1. Lithium Ion Batteries do not generate any electricity. The purpose of a Lithium Ion Battery (LIB) is only to store surplus energy from the Grid (it could be electricity from coal, gas or nuclear powered generators) and to resell it at a higher price. Raising the price to electricity consumers. LIB’s are very inefficient, as the requirement to use ‘inverters’ to convert electricity from DC to AC current in the transfer process, causes a loss of the electricity of between 10% and 20% of what they take in. Again unnecessarily increasing the price to the Consumer.
2. LIB’s are part of the Transition to Renewables ‘House of Cards’ and when it collapses, because it is based on using unreliable weather fuels, sunshine and wind. Sunshine having 16 hours of darkness each night, plus cloudy and wet day and Wind subject to wind droughts of hours, days even weeks of duration. When it collapses so will the demand for LIB’s and the need for a recycling facility.
3. LIB’s are an extremely hazardous product and the Wagga Wagga Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Facility will be an extremely dangerous facility to have in the Wagga Wagga Community. With the risk of run-a-way fires, massive explosions, toxic smoke and toxic water runoff from fire fighting activity.
I strongly oppose the building of the Wagga Wagga Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Facility.

Includes the installation of an enclosed battery recycling machine within the industrial building, as well as the installation of a LPG tank and an evaporative water-cooling tower and 3 exhaust chimneys.

Tell me the Difference in Pollution Levels of a Coal Fired Power Station V a Proposed Lithium Battery Recycling Facility, proposed upon Murray Darling Basin Food Bowl Catchments and you better. Who ever you are.

Who are you ? From where ? Melbourne ? Overseas ? All of the above ? Two of the above ?

Well ?

Wagga is upon the Precious Precious Precious Murray Darling Basin Food Bowl Catchments.

Put the facility in inner city Melbourne or inner city Brisbane or inner city Sydney or Inner city Adelaide.

Surely you can get away with putting a Lithium Battery Recycling Facility anywhere near Our, Australians Ours, Precious Precious Precious Murray Darling Basin Food Bowl Catchments, nb Food Bowl Catchments, nb Food Bowl Catchments, Vital to All Australians and All On Country Life forms, note.

How do you get away with it, Breaching Paris Agreements ? Needs an Inquiry doesn’t bit.

Alternatives exist to Li-ion batteries but you seem to not want to do the right thing toward All On Country Lands Waterways and Communities Australian, why ? Needs an Inquiry.

Look at this for an Alternative please.

Offer this Way from Now, gov.au. Or:-

https://sfstandard.com/2025/02/06/erin-brockovich-lawsuit-moss-landing-power-plant-fire/

Why would she, Erin Brockovich, be concerned ? I feel she knows More than you, gov.au, office working ignorant risking Australian Food Quality Why ? Why ? Why ? Why ? Do you know ?

You don't know do you.

Yet you Risk Contamination of Other People's Lands, Waterways and Communities, Why ? Ask yourself Why.

This project should never have got off the drawing board you see, but here it is in NSW planning portal , How ? Needs an Inquiry.

Don't you agree ?
I don't know what's wrong with you people as our gov.au, risking Contamination of Australian Food.

What's wrong with you?
What are you eating?
Do you know?
Do you?
Where does it come from?
Do you know?
Looks like you don't have any idea. Sack yourselves. Thanks. Thank you. We need better people in gov.au who have a Conscience.
Sadly Lacking in gov.au, sadly.
OK.
Lithium Ion Battery Pollution. Look it up on Duck Duck Go. It's easy to find.
Here it is:-
"Lithium-ion batteries can contribute to pollution through their production, use, and disposal. The extraction of materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel can lead to environmental degradation, while improper disposal can result in toxic chemicals leaching into ecosystems and water supplies."
Easily found. Do you understand.
Erin Brockovich does.
Erin Brockovich and residents have sued two energy companies over the fire.
"Environmental activist Erin Brockovich and residents of Monterey County filed a lawsuit Thursday against Texas-based Vistra Energy and Pacific Gas & Electric over a January fire at one of the world’s largest lithium-ion battery storage facilities."
Um.....surely the proposed site would be storing Li-ion batteries.
Um.....Halt All Further processing of Wagga Lithium Battery Recycling Facility proposal, proposed to be located at 61 Edison Road, East Wagga NSW Immediately.
Cease and Desist Lithium Batteries in Australia Immediately.
Users of Lithium Batteries can keep them at home can't they. They chose them. They can be Responsible for them for their Lifetime can't they. Yes, they can. They bought into this Scam, Net Zero, as did NSW State Government , so Penny Sharpe's home can become a dump for Lithium Ion batteries I say. What say you , planners NSW Government? What about Your place to Dump Li-ion batteries. That sounds like a good idea.

Cease Now and Forever From Now Li-ion batteries, nsw.gov.au.

Wait a few years.
No-one is able to Recycle toxic batteries yet.
And that's The SERIOUS issue with gov.au. They Never know what to do with all the Used Toxic products They and Only They Enable in Australia or NSW etc.

I feel nsw.gov.au must be fully investigated for choosing the Wrong way to offer energy to All On Country Lands Waterways and Communities Australian.
Shame on you All.
Shame on you All.
Shame on you All.
Hurry up and build Three and Three Only Brand New Low Emissions Coal Fired Power Stations in NSW on the old sites.
Food Quality view.
Compare the Coming Threats , Enabled by gov.au, nsw.gov.au, office working ignorants Unaware of Food they Eat every day hey.

Care for Country Care To The All On Country.
Cease Immediately all further Lithium Ion batteries in Australia.
Minister Sharpe can share Her backyard with dumped Li-ion batteries and so can You All Enabling them in Australia.
You Will Be Responsible you see IF Food Quality in Australia is Compromised in any way by Li-ion batteries or potential recycling facilities sited upon Our, Australians Ours, Murray Darling Basin Food Bowl Catchments !!!!! Oh No They Won't be will they.
Put them in your Own Backyards and Be Responsible for them. You might change your minds about them when you receive them in Your Backyards!

Hey NSW Planners. Hey Minister Sharpe, Minister Scully.
Heres a utube of a Battery Recycling Plant Exploding, Twice!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-nzOJ01Fkc

The Risk is Too Great to Our Farmers we Must Care for, don't you Agree. They grow our Food. They take all the risks. They pay Their OWN bills Unlike You lot Hey.
You take the Risk if you want these things, TOXIC to Environment Proven Proven Proven. Dump them in your Own Backyards until you Stop Enabling them in Australia.
Alternatives exist !!!

This is not wanted in Wagga! There is not enough evidence that it’s safe for the community eg fire, water leakage. I don’t want want to see this project go ahead. It needs to be in a better location and the community dose not even know about this. They have not done any community consultation at all

Lithium batteries are highly volatile products and contain very toxic waste chemicals. Lithium waste becomes very unstable when stored and especially in hot temperatures....like Australia. When these batteries are stored they become unstable and catch fire and explode. This creates toxic plums that cover huge areas and drop toxic fall out on our houses, cars, farms, gardens and especially the air we breathe. This project should not be considered anywhere near our farms and towns. Too toxic for the Riverina Area. I do Not Consent to this madness.

This facility should be built and run on solar power constructed on site. We are being told to stop using gas, so this facility should heed government rhetoric and use only renewable energy for construction and operation that it generates itself.

Will this facility be fully funded by taxpayers as yet another non-viable uncommercial operation that is pushed ahead by government ideology rather than sound economics and common sense?
