The flagrant proposed increase in BESS capacity from the approved 30MW/30MWh to a whopping 280MW/560/MWh should warrant a new exibition period in my opinion. PLease refer to the attached for further details on BESS.

I support the proposed expansion of the Wollar Solar Farm BESS. Renewable energy with good storage back up is the way of the future to avert serious disruption through a changing climate with life threatening extreme weather events. My family has lived off grid with solar for many years. The rest of NSW needs to catch up. I will be impacted by increased traffic movements during construction when travelling to and through Wollar. The cumulative impact of increased heavy traffic and general vehicle movements on the district roads, including the Bylong-Wollar Rd must be a key consideration.

I am writing on behalf of Sunterra, the EPC and O&M Contractor for the completed Wollar Solar Farm, to express our strong support for the proposed Modification 4 to SSD-9254, which seeks approval for the construction of a 280MW / 560MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

As the party responsible for delivering and operating the solar farm to date, Sunterra recognises the value that this BESS would bring to the site and to the broader NSW electricity network. In our view, the proposed modification will:
1. Enhance Grid Stability by enabling the solar farm to store excess energy and dispatch it when needed, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and improving network flexibility;
2. Support the Clean Energy Transition, aligning with NSW’s energy strategy and climate goals by facilitating deeper renewable energy penetration;
3. Deliver Economic Benefits, including regional employment and opportunities for Australian industry during construction and operations.

While Sunterra is not involved in the BESS scope at this stage, we fully support this modification and believe it will significantly enhance the long-term value and performance of the Wollar Solar Farm as a strategic renewable energy asset.
