Have your say on the transition to digital survey plans

09 September 2021

News

The Office of the Registrar General (ORG) has released an important discussion paper: “Transitioning from Paper to Digital Survey Plans”. It provides a comprehensive brief on the proposed digital transformation of the land titles system in NSW. This initiative is going to have a significant positive impact on a broad range of stakeholders across the State.

The paper provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how the digital transformation will play out and where it fits in with other similar initiatives, such as eConveyancing, ePlanning and the work of the NSW Building Commissioner.

Worth noting, the ePlanning team is working closely with ORG, the Land Registry Service (LRS) and the Department of Customer Service (DCS) to facilitate key aspects of the proposed initiative through the NSW Planning Portal. This includes:

  • enhancing existing digital services on the NSW Planning Portal to enable concurrent consent gathering for subdivision applications (completed)
  • replacing wet-ink signatures with a digital equivalent (for both certifying and referral authorities)
  • integrating the LRS Portal with the NSW Planning Portal to ensure a single source of truth for surveyor-certified plans and associated documents, and to facilitate the efficient transfer of data between both entities.

If you would like to make a submission, please visit the NSW Government Have Your Say website.

Submissions close 30 September, 2021.
