NSW Planning Portal and Major Projects Portal platform upgrade

Upgrade period
Project activities for the upgrade will commence on 12 May and has a scheduled end date of mid to late July 2025. Any delays to this timeframe will be communicated.
The Major Projects Portal and NSW Planning Portal upgrades will be staggered.

Minimal disruptions to services
During this time there will be minimal scheduled disruptions to the digital services. When the new version of the platform is deployed, there will be a scheduled system outage to complete this activity. We understand the impact of the NSW Planning Portal not being available and are working to minimise the period it will be unavailable for. The potential outage timeframe is:

Any scheduled outages will be displayed on the log in screens for the Major Projects and/or NSW Planning Portals, and any scheduled outages greater than 2 hours will be communicated to subscribers of the mailing list ‘System outage notification’ and NSW Planning Portal reference group members.
Testing will be rigorous
The Department will complete rigorous testing during the upgrade period and will collaborate with end users of the digital services to complete the user acceptance testing in July 2025.
This validation will include councils, agencies and industry to minimise the risk of issues after the upgrade is completed.
