Renewed direction of NSW Planning Portal

03 July 2024

News

The NSW Planning Portal (Portal) has a key role in delivering 377,000 homes over the next 5 years and strengthening the state’s commitment to the federal government’s National Housing Accord. In this year’s budget, the government has allocated $20.4 million to improve NSW Planning Portal operations. In the coming financial year, the NSW Planning Portal program will focus on the following key initiatives:

  • prioritise co-design with stakeholders to implement Portal upgrades to fix legacy issues.
  • implement the NSW Planning Portal Customer First Program to improve the user experience.
  • strengthen cybersecurity resilience and improve user information privacy.
  • enhance accessibility and inclusivity for all Portal users.
  • publish a feature and technology roadmap for the next 2 years, including mandated and optional features.

The department has also increased the customer support resources available to NSW Planning Portal users, which has resulted a reduction in the backlog of tickets by 70% since November 2023.

This renewed direction reinforces the department’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders to address the housing crisis and support the delivery of more homes in NSW.
