The land is currently zoned 1(a)Rural(Agricultural Protection).James Creek is located approximately 8 kilometres east of the township of Maclean and 14 kilometres west of the township of Yamba. It comprises part of the future consolidated community of Gulmarrad/Townsend, a satellite suburb of Maclean.
