Official Caution issued to Fulton Hogan Construction Pty Ltd (SSI-6878 as modified, Shellharbour City LGA)
On 27 January 2021, the Department issued an Official Caution to Fulton Hogan Construction Pty Ltd (FHC) for failure to ensure adequate environmental controls were implemented prior to construction, to safeguard against unintentional vegetation clearing. Failure to implement the controls led to the clearing of 20 trees in a small area of NSW listed endangered ecological community (EEC) “Illawarra Lowlands Grassy Woodland in the Sydney Basin Bioregion” (ILGW) and critically endangered ecological community (CEEC) “Illawarra and South Coast Lowland Forest and Woodland” (ISCLFW) habitat, in Croome Reserve. The incident was self-reported to the Department upon identification. FHC have since planted 80 trees in the road corridor and have implemented additional control measures to ensure no further harm occurs.

It is a must that this ramp be built as motorists travelling from southern locations would not be able to enter albion park and surrounds at this point.
Calderwood is earmarked for 10,000 new homes, and numerous other residential developments have started and as the proposal stands now, if you do not get off the east link proposed slip road, you cannot get to albion park, then have to travel to dapto interchange to come back.
This is ridiculous to say politely.
The residents of this area need to be able to get off the bypass at albion park without negotiation.
I object to this portion of the realignment however agree to the bypass in principal.
The slip road next that will replace the east west link will be heavily congested with all of the traffic from the industrial park, shellharbour square and northbound traffic only means of getting to albion park areas and surrounds.
If you want to leave albion park to go south or north there are options at albion park which is great and will be perfect. getting into albion park from nowra / shellharbour directions is non existent.
Remember when traffic is at peak times say in holiday periods, this single slip road will be packed and a mess.
The residents will pay the ultimate toll for the bypass by being traffic jammed to get home.
The exit at albion park will make for a perfect albion park consideration and solution.
I ask you to strongly consider this proposal and think of not only the burden of budget issues but the people, the residents of neighbouring areas that will use this also the developers and the major developments placed inside the Albion park catchment area.
Attached is your plan of what is now and what will be on completion.
Thank You

I notice a number of large trucks use these streets. I recommend vehicles be allowed to "Turn Right" onto the Princes Hwy, after the new Freeway has opened.

(1) To assist in easing traffic congestion and "Bank Up" from the "Northbound Freeway exit". I suggest that traffic turning left onto the new "local road" (East West link) have a separate lane or road beside the Interchange to automatically turn left without any interruption from other oncoming vehicles within the interchange itself.
As mentioned previously - I feel Business will best lost within Albion Park Rail - Shellharbour Districts, if this "Northbound Off Ramp" has traffic build up or if the Interchange appears dangerous. Travellers will most likely shop elsewhere.
(2) The Speed Limit on the Interchange and sections of approaching roads be reduced to 60 kmh with "Speed Safety Cameras" being placed in strategic positions. A number of current accidents and near misses, I feel are caused by 80 kmh speed limit (miss-judgement of speed) and drivers failing to change their "Indicator" intentions prior to exiting the Interchange. Most of this project (no. 2) could be completed now.

I write to you in regard to the Albion Park Bypass project.
I am concerned about the impact that the project will have on the Dairy Farm located on the Illawarra Highway. I understand that 27 hectares of agricultural land will be taken to build the road. This is more than double the amount of land identified in the original road corridor.
It is important to me that our future generations be able to feed themselves with Australian grown produce. Agricultural ground is a precious resource that needs to be protected. Once this land is under a road it can never be used to produce food for our nation again.
I ask that the road design be reviewed carefully and creatively to find alternative solutions to the current design, that will reduce the amount of quality agricultural land taken by this project.

I am a daily commuter through Albion Park Rail to my place of employment in Western Sydney and at present I encounter delays on my journey due to traffic congestion, flood events, and the occassional accident or breakdown.
Secondly, I support the project because of the improvements in road safety that will flow from separating local and pediastrian traffic from high flow commuter traffic. The benefits for improving both safety and public amenity should be significant for both Albion Park and Albion Park Rail.
Finally, I support the bypass because it will improve transport and economic efficiencies. I see this as particularly important if the second Sydney airport is ever constructed at Badgerys Creek in Western Sydney. If this infrastructure project proceeds, then it is likely traffic flows from this region to Western Sydney will increase for both employment and travel reasons.

I request that an alternative route be investigated to reduce the impact on the farming property, for the sake of current and future generations and for the agricultural well being of Australia.

Mr Steyer noted in particular:
- that he had received confirmation from Mr Vecovski, the Project Development Manager, that the hard shoulders of the motorway bypass will be marked as bicycle lanes, including a separation line to provide a buffer zone between cyclists and motorists; and
- a proposal, supported by Shellharbour City Council, that a shared bicycle path be constructed along the north side of the sound barrier between Croom Road and Durgadin Drive, to provide cyclists with safe route through the corridor that connects with back streets and other infrastructure (traffic signals on the Princes Highway & the pedestrian/bicycle rail crossing) such that they are not forced to use the motorway and therefore can avoid the hazardous New Lake Entrance Road interchange.

As I am the mother of a young child, it is extremely important to me that our future generations be able to feed themselves with Australian grown produce. Agricultural ground is a precious resource that needs to be protected. And I am lead to believe that the land below the Illawarra escarpment is prime producing agriculture land. Once this land is under a road it can never be used to product food for our nation which is growing everyday and taking on more and more refugees. I do not want my children and their children consuming genetically enhanced food due to the lack of agricultural land to produce organically.
I ask that the road design be reviewed carefully and creatively to find an alternative solution to the current design, that will reduce the amount of quality agricultural land taken by this project.

I am writing to you in regard to the Albion Park bypass project and the effect it will have on our local farming land.
I am very concerned about the impact that the project will have on the family owned Diary Farm located on the Illawarra Highway. I understand that 27 hectares of agricultural land will be taken to build the road. This is more than double the amount of land identified in the original road corridor. The family concerned will be greatly impacted as their income will be permanently reduced and functionality of the remaining land will be reduced due to poor access solutions.

I am concerned about the impact that the project will have on the Dairy Farm located on the Illawarra Highway and associated prime agricultural land. I understand that 27 hectares of this agricultural land will be taken to build the road. This is more than double the amount of land identified in the original road corridor, and after reading the EIS, I am still unsure why such a large parcel of land will be required.
It is important to me that our future generations be able to feed themselves with Australian grown produce. Agricultural land is a precious resource that needs to be protected. Once this land is under a road it can never be used to produce food for our nation again. Agricultural land is not relocatable either, whereas roads can be.
I respectfully ask that the road design be reviewed carefully and creatively to find an alternative solution to the current design, that will reduce the amount of quality agricultural land taken by this project, and thus minimise the impact to not only the farming families associated with this land, but also the longer term impact this current design will have on food security.

James Gray

I am very concerned that so much of our prime dairy land is being taken away for this project. I am also concerned at the fact that not only is the dairy farm on the Illawarra Highway being taken away but also that the lives of the farmers are being ruined in the process. Nowhere in the Environmental Impact Statement does it state that the house and cowshed on this piece of land will be destroyed. The public has a right to know about this and the other two houses also to be demolished.
I believe that the road should be moved to the eastern side of the Illawarra Highway and perhaps even run underneath the east west runway of the Albion Park Airport if it goes that close.
I am concerned about the impact that the project will have on the Dairy Farm located on the Illawarra Highway. I also understand that 27 hectares of agricultural land will be taken to build the road. This is more than double the amount of land identified in the original road corridor. We need to retain our beautiful and productive farms. What happens when suburbia wipes them all out? What do we eat then?
It is important to me that our future generations be able to feed themselves with Australian grown produce. Agricultural ground is a precious resource that needs to be protected. Once this land is under a road it can never be used to produce food for our nation again.
