The basketball stadium is a place that needs to go somewhere and the reality is that places are limited. It also provides an opportunity for the school to be able to play indoor sports . This could include basketball indoor cricket soccer etc. the reality is for the government to get the broadmeadow project up and running some hard decisions are going to be made this is the first one and the government need to make. Otherwise it has to go out to Glendale.

I support the new stadium as my kids play and the growth of basketball in Newcastle is huge and the current facilities are outdated.

For too long Newcastle has put up with a substandard basketball stadium. I played there when I was a kid in the 1980’s, and now I coach my kids weekly in a stadium with leaks, scoreboards that regularly fail. It’s not good enough. Someone is going to be upset wherever the stadium ends up. Soccer fields are in every suburb so the Jaffas will be able to relocate. Basketball is growing at an exponential rate and it will get so much bigger if we have a facility that belongs in this century.

The current stadium is 50 years old, dangerous and a dump. Over 1,000 kids who want to play can’t because of lack of courts. Rep teams have to train at 5.30 in the morning because of lack of courts. A new stadium is needed and it must be in the proposed sporting complex area.

I object to this project as the public wasn't consulted from the start. The HISC will impact the public in so many ways. 1 the flooding will only get worse. 2 it's public green space used by cricket, soccer , high school activities and a place to go in an emergency so all can be counted for. The league, hockey ,soccer I certainly impacts local residents by parking over drives and noise when approaching cars. This area does not fit a large sporting facility as to close to houses, unlike the area it's in now. That is more suited to this. We need our green space in inner suburbs kept. Please dont do this to our area. Obviously it wasn't a concern for state and local governments in the initial stages. Just take from the workers and build for profit. Go buy land somewhere else

Newcastle is running out of green sporting areas and the proposal of the location of the 'new indoor centre' would have a huge impact on the traffic conditions and community. The infrastructure is not designed to be able to with stand the events held now that are frequently scheduled at the same time. The amount of foot traffic and road traffic creates alot of congestion and frustration to people attending the events and the community in the area. Why are we moving the basketball stadium when Broadmedow has been named the central hub of Newcastle with rezoning for the area to build developments. This indoor centre be involved near the knights centre of excellence and create a 'sports hub ' o the other side. Lambton high school has no green area as it is and as someone that attended the school and still walk past the area the green fields are used! The green fields are used through out the winter and summer for sporting events and the roads can not handle the traffic and amount of people now.
There has been NO consultation with community from a state and council level. Listen to the community and provide alternatives instead of listing one option only.
Lambton needs the green space we do not need anti social behaviour and an increase in foot traffic as there is already so many other concerns. The boke track and walking track will attract antisocial behaviour and it is dangerous at night as it is.
Consider the community and consider the infrastructure and give Lambton and Broadmeadow better options. The tram and the train were meant to play a huge role in connecting Newcastle why build a facilitiy like this so far away.

Basketball in Newcastle is continuing to grow for all ages! All of my kids play and so does my husband! We have a number of brilliant players from Newcastle and it would be such a shame for that to stop.
