I support the project as it’s going to help over 1500 employees. If it doesn’t go ahead it’s going to affect the Hunter.

This is a significant employer that contributes economically to local, state and federal funds which in turn supports other industries. Without major projects being approved with sound controls we are setting our future generations up for failure. Places like the Hunter Valley that is supported by the mining industries will need to look to new proven industries not hopes and dreams.

I am writing in strong support of the proposed extension of the HVO North coal mine. As a resident of this community, I see firsthand the importance of the mine to our town’s future and the livelihoods of local families.

The mine provides stable, well-paid jobs that keep families in the region and support local businesses, schools, and services. Without it, many people would be forced to leave in search of work, which would have a devastating impact on the social and economic fabric of our community.

Extending HVO North means security not only for the current generation but also for future generations. It ensures that our children have opportunities to build their lives here, rather than having to move away.

I believe responsible mining and environmental management can continue alongside this extension, providing a balance between economic development and sustainability.

For these reasons, I fully support the extension of the HVO North coal mine and urge its approval.

This project is essential for employment in the region both directly and indirectly. HVO is the largest employer in the upper hunter and contributes significantly to the local community. In addition HVO provides significant royalties which in turn assists our schools, hospitals etc. This income for the state government cannot be sourced through any other mechanisms as the government has no others means to make those amount of money without increasing taxes etc. should this project not be approved, local hospitals and other services will close due to insufficient funds.

I believe the mining industry is essential for not only our community but for the nation. The continuation of mining in the hunter is vital for its success, to allow people to stay in their homes, their community. Hunter valley operations contributes greatly to the surrounding areas and without the jobs they provide and the support our community is lost.

Having worked at HVO for the last 15years. I am proud to be apart of the business . not only is it my own job a life style that the mine does for me. My wife also works there so my family is greatly appreciated of the jobs HVO has created. An I’m sure the 1600 other people employed there feel the same way the extension would be amazing for all of the employees an the suppliers in the valley . Let alone the revenue the the government gets along the way . For me it’s a great place to work with high morals to work within the dust ,noise an other restrictions we r faced with on a day to day basis so that our neighbours r not hindered in any way . I am proud to be apart of HVO an r hoping to see the rest of my working life at HVO .

I feel this planned extension of HVO will bring much needed security and financial benefit to the immediate area and NSW in general. This is an existing mine that has provided employment over a number of years and can for many years to come. NSW and Australia does not have the infrastructure to provide quantity and quality electricity at the moment through renewable energy sources, so ,until they do, we need to support our local coal mines. As far as I'm aware, HVO has in this application abided by very stringent guidelines to assure government that they are conscious of community concerns, and has demonstrated that they can mine coal into the future with the environment ,community and their workforce as the main focus.

I support the continuation of Hunter Valley Operations to preserve local jobs and economic contribution to the community. The loss of HVO would leave a devastating effect on the community.

I support the HVO Continuation Project. HVO creates many employment opportunities not only through site but by using local vendors to provide labour, parts, manufacturing and specialised services.
The commitment HVO has to bettering the community in which it operates creates many benefits for local groups, schools and community organisations with incentive programs and assistance.

The project as amended (to 2045) represents an appropriate balance between resource extraction (and the associated economic benefit) and environmental impacts. It is a natural extension of a mine which has been in operation for over 70 years, at the same mining rate and largely within the same footprint, providing employment and prosperity to the LGA and surrounding area.

In addition, the coal to be mined here is some of the best quality coal in the world, with a high calorific value and low ash. If this project were not to proceed, our customers would be forced to buy lower quality coal from other exporters (Indonesia, Russia etc.) with worse environmental outcomes. HVO's first world customers in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and others depend on this asset to meet their energy requirements, and the emissions from the power generation from this coal are appropriately factored into their "Nationally Determined Contributions" in line with their net zero commitments under the Paris Accord, and subsequent climate change summits.

This is a well-considered application with significant economic benefits and its environmental impacts have been comprehensively assessed. I support the approval of this project.

As someone who is directly employed by HVO, by not approving this extension it will not just be the people like myself that are directly employed by HVO that will lose their jobs and livelihoods it will also affect thousands of other workers that contract or do works for HVO and their families. It’ll affect towns like singleton that rely on mining to survive.
