I wish to show my disapproval of the chance that the intermodal may be built in my local area of Holsworthy.
My reasons behind this are many and they are as follows.
1. Excessive traffic within the area.
To me this creates a number of problems. One of them being pollution in the form of vehicle fumes and also noise pollution.
Noise pollution to all the surrounding areas of this proposed storage yard as well as freight trains running 24hrs per day 7 days per week.
2. Traffic congestion not only on the motorways but also when there are truck break downs in the local areas around Hammondville, Holsworthy, Moorebank and Chipping Norton. I have seen what a single broken down car does to the flow of traffic let alone broken down trucks on a regular basis. Having to put up with this not only around our local schools but also the when traffic is diverted of the M5 motorway and on to Newbridge Road the extra vehicle driving through the night make it almost impossible to sleep.
3. What about the safety side of it? The amount of extra trucks that will be driving past schools and school children populated areas during school hours has the potential for children to be injured or possibly even killed.
4. If this does go ahead and a child is harmed because of this, I would really hate to be the one to say " I told you so"
Please think long and hard about this and move this construction to Badgerys Creek.
Concerned Local Resident,
Perry Wills

1. The health of residents with diesel emissions from thousands of extra trucks on the road. There are hospitals, schools, nursing homes, childcare within the radius.
2. Traffic congestion, our roads cannot cope now, let alone 1 truck every 20 seconds.
3. It is not needed. Chullora can fill all the needs for years to come.
4. Taxpayers should not be paying one cent to this private enterprise.
5. The negative effect on the Georges River and the Powerhouse Museum.
If an Intermodal must be built, it should be at Badgereys Creek near the new airport and close to the distribution centres. It makes no sense to build it at Moorebank

With the application of state significant development 5066 so proximal to the application of this similar development, the cumulative effects of the two effectively double the impact on the environment and the community with similar concerns regarding air quality, noise, traffic, etc.
Refer to the public submissions for the adjacent development proposal, take a leaf out of the book as far as all impacts are concerned, gather the seething dislike from the public, concern yourself accordingly and then double it. This is why this development is not desirable. One application has caused sufficient controversy and grief to the peace loving community. Two? Give the public a break. Find the right location and the sensible application for this development. Or just steamroll in and ignore economics.
No thanks. Not here. I value my family's and my community's health. I value the waiting times at Liverpool Hospital as they are, thanks. I value optimal ling function and being cancer free.
I have heard that they are in need of containers around the Eastern Creek region. Might be worth a shot...

AIR QUALITY
NOISE LEVELS
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
It is hard to believe the PEA issued October 2014 by SIMTA stating there will be minimal deterioration of Noise and Traffic, 2 key quality of life factors. On air, I am not sure it has made any statements about its impact. It is a large development so close to suburbia.
It is not clear to what minimum standard the Air & Noise quality levels will be enforced. Should the project get approval, minimum quality levels must be set to international standards and it must be monitored regularly by an independent party to SIMTA.
On the issue of traffic, I am perplexed that this will be all managed with the various road upgrades. Proponent will use data that gives the most promising results and am concerned this may be the case here. Has the traffic study and assumptions of volume and directions of flow been verified independently.

To merge and demerge heavy vehicles in a 100 KMH zone is the most dangerous and dumbest part of this development.
You will be responsible for more frequent traffic accidents and their severity for approving this "proposal" involving your vehicles.
I find it astonishing that the Air quality study does not monitor or report on Diesel particulate matter.
The WHO has recently added Diesel particulate matter to its list of carcinogens affecting human life.
With the introduction of thousand more diesel engines annually, when they're under duress and at their dirtiest, into the residential area the people deciding and approving the "proposal should be held culpable for many preventable deaths and injuries!

Heavy vehicle access to M5
Heavy vehicle access to M5 east and west..
Off ramp distance @ Hume Highway exit to moorebank ave M5 on ramp. Vehicles are crossing lanes to exit @ Hume hwy whilst heavy vehicles are accelerating westbound (slowly) on M5 and crossing lanes to head westbound. This is a very very very dangerous situation that will be created .The problem is mirrored eastbound. Responsibility for any deaths occurring as a result of this must be placed squarely at the feet of those approving this concept as there is no answer, These ramps are located on a bridge and cannot be altered. This problem cannot be addressed.
Noise from terminal operations;
it has been stated that warehousing will be strategically placed to act as a noise barrier. With terminals placed on land designated east and west of moorebank ave how will this be achieved as DNSDC occupies the adjoining east boundary to watlegrove. How will this be addressed?
it has been stated that the site will use use a high percentage of automation reducing the use of audible reversing warnings. Visual and audible warnings (for moving objects) are required in all areas accessible to people.How will these noise emissions be addressed in particular at night.
There is no noise emission capping for diesel locomotives, most private operators use aging rolling stock. Banked locomotives in particular are extremely noisy on lift off. Dependent upon tonnage this acceleration can occur over 2km. How will this be addressed?
Wheel squeal is common occurrence on braking trains. This also occurs when negotiating banked corners and tight rail radius in rail yards at low speed. How will this be addressed?
Shunting will occur in the rail yard which is extremely noisy when buffer contact is made. How will this be addressed?
Emissions
It has been stated that diesel locomotives accessing the site will need to comply with the latest emissions standards. To my knowledge their is no requirement in place for locomotives. only ADR80 for motorised vehicles. How will this be addressed?
I have lived in the area for over 17 years and have a household weather station. The number of "still nights" with no air movement or wind speed below 2kph are very common occurring over 50% of the time. Has the EIS studied this, what will be the effect of no air movement and high emissions that the site will generate, in particular heavy vehicles.
Light spill
Spare me you have no answer.
Bushfire
Wattlegrove southern boundary adjoins Holsworthy military camp. Our Northern boundry is blocked by the M5. Our western boundry will be now blocked by an intermodal.
The only evacuation direction for residents in the case of bushfire is east until heathcote road is reached. Hammondville, Pleasure point, Voyager Point and Sandy point use Heatrhcote road to evacuate due to eastern boundary with georges river. We have experienced Bushfire over the years it is a real threat. What is the strategy in place to evacuate in an emergency?

If the m5 was firstly contracted to support growing population we shouldn't need to object to this.

The excess trucks sending pollution into the waterways of the Georges River. It is also a very busy area in the Georges Fair Estate with alnost all lots sold and in process of building. Moirbank isn't what it used to be. No Industrial area it is now a buzzing suburb of young families and older people downsizing to fullfil their retirement.

The reasons I object are:
· Local roads will be choked by large container trucks increasing travel time and reducing road safety
· Air pollution will be greatly increased affecting the health of my family and local residents
· the light and noise pollution generated by the Intermodal operating 24 hours, seven days a week
· the destruction of military heritage;
· the destruction of native flora and fauna habitat;
· the negative environmental impact on the Georges River;
· the diesel pollution from the freight trains;
· the location of the Intermodal is surrounded by a high density residential area, this includes pre-schools, primary and high schools and a nursing home;
· the freight trains to and from the intermodal will negatively impact the local arts and cultural centre - Casula Powerhouse;
· the negative impact on the value of residential properties surrounding the intermodal site; and
· the negative impact it will cause to the lifestyle of the community.

I believe that Badgerys Creek would be a much better alternative as it will be close to the proposed airport which will have roads and infastructure to support it.

Having bought residential land from the government in Wattle Grove in 1993, I never thought that such a bad development would happen and was certainly never told by the developers or the Government that such a thing could or would be built.
These terminals are just to close to our community , just 400 metres
The noise and polution from these terminals 24 hours a day as proposed or at all will be impossible to live with.
Already the noise from the near-by motorway is excessive during sleeping hours with unfavorable wind direction.
Just some of the issues un acceptable are --- and these can not be reduced to nill or mitegated to an acceptable level when so close to the residential areas.
1) Train wheel squeel opperating on the very tight radius bends approaching and departing the site also within the sites, even if the train is moving very slowly this noise would be un acceptably bad due to the maximum wheel traction & friction at these low speeds, and this is proposed 24 hours a day.
2) Train shunting noise within the site through the still of the night and day from both old and new rollong stock.
3) Train noise on the new bridges over the river.
4) Greatly increased train Diesel engine noise particularly with our old engines and also new engines.
5) Increased Diesel polution from these trains.
6) Noise from large elevated gantry cranes opperating powerful high speed (or slow ) winches loading and unloading containers particularly in the middle of the night and day, this noise will travel far in the flat terrain and over the waters of the river.
7) Container crashing noises at put down and lifting, in the middle of the night.
8) Noise and polution from thousands of extra, large container trucks and smaller vehicles operating on our local streets and nearby motorway at all hours of the day.
The Intermodal developers continually tell us that tey will be taking trucks off our roads, how can that be when there will be thousands more locally, also they contradict themselves by requesting allowace for unlimited truck movements on our motorway.
9) Noise and polution from various methods of moving containers within the sites through day and night.
No amount of monitoring and mitigation of noise or polution will fix the impact on the nearby communities and environment , we have already seen the true unacceptable impact on the communities sorrounding the Port Botany site and the false and proven wrong monitoring there. All this will just be repeated here at Moorebank-- But on a larger scale.
It is unbelievable that massive terminals of this size and type ( or smaller ) can even be considered within the long established near-by residential area.This near pristene fresh water river front land should be used for residential & recreational use only and not for the purpose of heavy and poluting industry, destroying the quality of life for the long established residential community who paid a high price to the government for their land. For many residents, selling up and moving is just not an option given the reduced value of our properties due to the Intermodal Terminals, why just a few days ago our Prime Minister was howling in Parliament about the unacceptable possibility of people being forced to accept reduced property values.
