My wife and I would like to strongly object to your proposal to build a new paved road, two lanes wide, through the bushland of the Castle Howard Conservation Reserve to Kirkham street, near the bridge over the M2. The section of Kirkham street is barley coping with local traffic and through traffic, from Beecroft to Epping and North Rocks and return, this is an already dangerous street heavily overloaded as is. The addition of spoilage and heavy construction vehicles to this already dangerous situation would be negligent, irresponsible and down right dangerous especially considering that minor alterations to provide on/off ramps to the M2 would more than suit the purpose and would provide a safe long term solution and provide safe and secure ongoing access.

Attention: Director, Infrastructure Projects
Submission to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure on the proposed North West Rail Link (NWRL)
Application Number: SSI-5100
Instead of the option of building a new paved road through the bushland of the Castle Howard conservation Reserve we propose that you build on and off ramps from the M2 Motorway which is next to the construction site. According to Engineering advice, this should be possible by widening the breakdown lane from 2m to 3m for 150m to allow trucks to enter and 150m to leave the site safely. Only 16 truck movements a day to remove spoil are predicted for the construction of the access tunnel. These ramps would remain after construction and serve to access the tunnel for emergency services.
The bushland in question is Blackbutt Gully forest in good condition. It was gazetted reserve over 100 years ago and remained intact until 1995 when southern edge near Devlins Creek was taken for the building of M2. This is some of the best bushland in the area, much enjoyed by the local and wider community. A hazard reduction burn carried out on part of this bushland in January 2011 has produced spectacular regeneration and has been of great benefit to the preservation of biodiversity in our area. Rare species of plant has been identified in this area.

Attention: Director, Infrastructure Projects
We would like to register our objection to the proposed Emergency Services road cutting through the Castle Howard Conservation Reserve.
This option will destroy some valuable and rare flora and fauna in this special bushland area. A lot of hard work has been carried out over recent years by volunteers trying to preserve this pristine bushland for future generations.
Apart from the increased traffic flow and noise levels with the use of heavy vehicles in the Kirkham Street residential area the project will also result in the loss of the community netball courts.
We understand an alternative access option has been suggested by building on and off ramps from the M2 Motorway by widening the breakdown lane and this would then provide ongoing access for emergency services.
We feel this is a more suitable option with far less inconvenience to local residents by keeping heavy vehicles out of already busy local roads and preserving the beautiful bushland.
Please give consideration to the above requests for the use of the M2 option as a preference.

To whom it may concern,
My name is Rachael Oey and my family and I have lived on 1B Robert Rd, Cherrybrook since 2008.
I am writing to you today to object to using Robert Rd as the feeder road for the proposed Cherrybrook Railway station for a multitude of reasons.
Robert road is a quiet suburban road, barely big enough for residential cars to park and still let both lanes of traffic operate at the same time. To add further traffic such as buses to this quiet road is absurd. Not only for the residents of Robert Road but also for the commuters who would use the feeder road. There are many other larger and accessible roads available to use such as Country Drive. It is better suited to this purpose, with four lanes and even a nature strip. Franklin road would also be a good choice as it is much less urbanised and larger than Robert Road
The devaluation of our property is also at stake. The noise pollution and traffic alone would turn all potential buyers away. Financially, our lives would be ruined. Compensation would be needed to cover our loss.
I bought this house to raise my children in a safe environment. All that would be thrown out the window if the proposed feeder road plans goes ahead. My husband also works the night shift, needing to sleep during the day. What would happen to him if the noise pollution suddenly doubled or even trebled? It would mean the inability to work and thus the loss of a job.
I urge you to listen and consider the recommendations that I have put forward today.
Regards,
Rachael Oey

Stop the NWRL proposed emergency access facility through the Cheltenham Oval netball courts.
These courts are utilized by many local families, clubs and schools. They provide a safe environment for kids to play (roads are not options these days), a place for organised club/school sports, an area to promote physical activity for individuals/family/ and provides an invaluable meeting spot to build community. Please restore these courts to a safe working order for our kids, family, friends and community.
regards,
Natalie

I am neutral to the proposed $9 billion spending to provide a 23 km rail network for 300,000 residents. It is a much delayed and needed infrastructure. I think the spending of $30,000 per resident is not cost effective or energy efficient, it does not provide any solution to the transportation of freight and it will be a continual drain on the government resources to maintain and run it.

Dear people associated with the proposed North West Rail Link.
This is a submission re some of the information contained in the "northwestraillink Environmental Impact Statement 1" (NWRL EIS1) document. The EIS indicates that I should quote a application number SSI-5100 whatever that means.
I am a retired Engineer and my wife and myself generally strongly support public transport and therefore the proposed NW rail link. We live in Kerry Ave Epping immediately south of Cheltenham Oval. Devlins Creek and the M2 motorway are located between our house and Cheltenham Oval. We have lived in this area for about 30 years and therefore were here long before the extensive destruction in this area of the bushland, including hundreds of more than century old trees, that occurred when the M2 was constructed . I am therefore very concerned that a considerable amount of the remanent bushland (that was indicated to be of high value in the M2 EIS) will almost certainly be destroyed if the NWRL Cheltenham Intermediate Services Facility goes ahead as indicated on pages 40 and 41 of the NWRL EIS1.
I attach a document including a Google "satellite" map of this area on which I have superimposed a diagram of the Cheltenham Intermediate Services Facility re drawn from the diagram on page 41. Unfortunately the details of the surrounds in the diagram on page 41 are very blurred however I think I have fairly accurately re drawn, rotated and scaled the page 41 diagram so that it is fits the Google map. This indicates that the underground rail lines will run parallel to and slightly south of Castle Howard Rd and that the buildings etc of the Cheltenham Intermediate Services Facility are to be located where the Cheltenham Oval car park and the adjacent Netball Courts and Cricket practice nets are currently located. As indicated in the attached document our main concern is in regard to the proposal to construct the heavy vehicle access road to Kirkham St through the bushland. We strongly suggest that this access road is not constructed and that alternative vehicular access onto the M2 motorway be used instead.
The attached document lists some other concerns and suggestions how these might be resolved.
