Environmental suicide and economic suicide. While the rest of the planet starts to reduce it's reliance on coal, Australia ramps it up...at what cost? Nothing is worth compromising our health....are we the most backward country in the world or what?

I strongly object to the proposed 4th coal export Terminal in Newcastle. Enough damage is being done to the environment, we do not need more mining. This is unsustainable. Please stop this nonsense! Save our water, our land, our birds. We do not wish an increased impact of noise and dust on various communities. You would never accept this for yourself if you lived in those places. Australia needs to become a clever country instead of destroying its own beautiful environment by digging it up to cater for the surpopulation and overconsumption of our planet.
Don't build a new monstrous Coal Export Terminal!

I am writting to express my support for the T4 project. The project is a much need infrastructure investment for the NSW and the National Economy.
The project will provide much needed employment opportunities in the Hunter. As a former Hunter resident I support the project.
Having read the project submission, the submission is a very detailed an thorough assessment which has considered and addressed environmental and community concerns.
PWCS has invested significant funds to secure environmental offsets prior to having received project approval, this displays a very socially responsible attitude and significant commitment to the environment.

Hi
I would like to request an extension of time for the community to write our submissions. This is a huge project & it is imperative that all parties have enough time to prepare & write a submission.

Can I please have an extension on my submission, 6 -12 weeks from the 28/10/13. PWCS have had well over 12 months to look over submissions and the PPR is well over 200 pages with lots of tech stuff. I have asked PWCS for a hard copy, but I have not been supplied with one from PWCS. I work during the week and have no access to the internet, so I can only read at home in the evening. The extension would then give me time to throughly asses.

The development of the Kooragang Island site in particular the new T4 project shows how a MAJOR project can work with/in an environmental sensitive site and produce a working model / development that will in the future benefit the natural environment ,the community and the economic future of our area.

I support this project!
With unemployment on the rise and construction and infrastructure job opportunities significantly decreasing (due to the shelving/cancellation of MANY projects, namely BHP/BMA and Rio Tinto projects), this project will assist to ease the current market pain many of us in industry are feeling.

I support the T4 project on the grounds that:
a. the export capacity will stimulate the Australian economy, provide jobs within the NSW coal catchment and generate tax and royalty revenue for the State and the Nation.
b. the further use of Newcastle as an existing industrial port reduces pressure on the development of terminals in new harbours.
c. the use of land previously sterilised by contaminated waste represents a positive environmental outcomes.
d. the 250% offset represents the conservation of higher value conservation areas and therefore generates a positive environmental outcome.
e. the future prosperity of developing nations relies on access to affordable energy and steel; the expansion of Hunter Valley export capacity assists in providing these resources to developing economies.

I strongly support the T4 project submission, PWCS and the broader Hunter Valley and Australian mining and minerals sector.
I have lived, worked and played in the Newcastle area for the past 20 years and NSW all my life. I am aware of PWCS' and the coal mining sectors contribution to the local, state and national economies in the form of direct and indirect employment, donations and sponsorship, and royalties and revenue to the state and national economies which goes into services such as health, roads and education etc.
Whilst being pro industry and employment I also have high expectations of organisations to minimise the impact on the local environment and community for currnet and future generations. PWCS is a rseponsible and community minded organisation with excellent environmental performance as indicated by the local newcastle air quality and lifestyle culminating in winning national awards in the areas for environmental performance.
In addition to the above I have a wife, two children and many family and friends that live in the Newcastle area and/or work in the coal mining industry. I feel it is an important opportunity for all to express their views and support, or non support for this project and industry in general rather than opponents only expressing their views which is often interpreted as representing the community as a whole.

I am a strong supporter of the T4 project. The coal export industry is one of the key inputs into the NSW and Hunter Region economies. The economic benefits during construction and operation of the terminal are significant, and far outweigh any perceived detrimental effects to the environment. I am comfortable that the development will have minimal effects on the natural environment.

I support the T4 Project. I have spent a number of years living and working in Newcastle, and have seen the positive transformation of Kooragang Island from a waste disposal area to a remediated and productive island. Developments such as T4 will also create ongoing jobs for individuals and local businesses.

The proposed Terminal 4 project is an important one for our region. The project approval is important to ensure the longer term sustainability of a significant industry for Newcastle and the Hunter - the coal industry.
Demand for Hunter Valley coal is, like many industries, cyclical in nature. The current coal industry downturn is just that - part of a cycle. In the future, when demand increases again, it is very important that infrastructure be constructed to meet this demand. Timing is crucial in this process and the approval process for Terminal 4 needs to continue as quickly as possible.
When the demand cycle turns, a project of this magnitude will provide jobs and significant economic benefits to the region. I am confident that PWCS will carry out this project with professionalism, ensuring all environmental, social and economic factors are managed sustainably for the betterment of the region.
