Port Waratah Coal Services is a major employer in the region.

The service Port Waratah provides to the industry supports exports, growth and future employment in the Hunter Valley.

Port Waratah is a major contributor to the community through donations and funding.

Port Waratah takes its social licence seriously and listens to community concerns.

Despite what many believe the Coal industry is a vital part of the Hunter economy. The level of environmental controls put in place to protect the community and the broader environment from the impacts of this industry are far greater than vertually any other industry operating in the region. Remember the original name for Newcastle was Coal River. People came here for Coal, a large number of people live here now for Coal. Let's support the industry that supports the Hunter.

I object to this project because of the increased noise and dust pollution, and the destruction of wildlife habitat.

I would like to add my support for the T4 terminal.

With more and more coal producing nations coming online the competition in the market is more fierce than ever.

The only way Australian companies can maintain a competative edge is by keeping our costs down. Having the best transportation infrastructure available is a vital part of controling those costs.

I support the development and construction of T4 to secure the viability of the coal industry in the Hunter Region and thereby proving valuable security to local, state and the national interests.

Whilst long term I believe we need to reduce our dependence on the coal industry, until we have a clear and present viable alternative we need to maintain a pragmatic approach to sustaining existing capacity and support further expansion based on rationale considerations.

I have worked for PWCS on several occasions and their commitment to the environment is exemplary. It is disappointing, but easy for people to "jump on the band wagon" to discredit coal. The facts are very different. The project will remediate the toxic waste dump at Kooragang that was left by BHP and create many 100s of jobs for local companies. The benefits based on facts, not dogma, are that the T4 project will be an extremely positive project for Newcastle.

Newcastle and the Hunter are communities based on coal and heavy industry.
Port Waratah has a great reputation in the community for being a desirable and supportive employer.
If T4 means more jobs in mining and related industries, I am happy to support it.

I support the growth of the Hunter Valley economy as our lifestyles and security are dependent on it. Australia has strong environmental controls that enable different communities and industries to work together for the benefit of all. Coal, other industry and farming can coexist together for the benefit of all. Farming actually needs the injection of investment capital that industry can bring to them. I believe I am a practical 'greenie' and I get very concerned with the lack of factual basis for a lot of 'green' claims particularly from the potiticians and activists. It seems these people can say something 3 times and it becomes a fact that they then propogate in the media. I do not want to see Australian living standards fall and want the investment in Australia to continue albeit with our strong environmental controls continuing. NB: In terms of GHC emissions Australia's coal exports are a very small proportion of world consumption (<6%).

I am in favour of T4 going ahead. T4 is vital for the long term future of the coal industry, which has employed many members of my family and my local community. I agree there is a finite life for the coal industry into the future with the emergence of green technologies and alternative renewable energy sources. This means the coal that lies in our Hunter Valley has value for only a limited time. If we don't extract it whilst the world sees value in what would otherwise be a worthless material, we may look back in the years ahead and rue a missed opportunity. Stopping the coal industry in the Hunter Valley now will simply mean the demand for coal shifts somewhere else within the country or elsewhere.

I strongly support investment in Australia for the ultimate benefit of all. The 'green' representatives are not held to the same level of account re facts as government bodies and industry so they can make inaccurate claims while representing them as facts to the general public. We have lost billions of dollars of investment in Australia already. We need to support the investment in our region both for us and for Australia.

The demand is not there to support another coal loader.
We have enough pollution in Newcastle and our city will still prosper without further coal exports. How incredible this company thinks they are the major stakeholder in the Hunters' growth.
You can't move the Green and Golden bell frogs - they will die. The frogs that are still there are dying due to the pollution already in situ not through natural attrition.
You can't just suddenly re-direct the migratory birds to another area.
This company has the attitude that they can just throw money at any problem and they have already bought the NSW Government. They have little concern for the environment, ecology, flora and fauna. Their objective is profit. Rio Tinto management style is very apparent in their operations.
They have poured millions of dollars into this project already - they should be directing it into alternative energy options instead especially in view of their so called concern over the environment.

I am proud to support the T4 project and think it is a great example of the coal industry making a serious commitment to meets its social, environmental and ecological obligations.

The reality is the Hunter Valley needs the coal industry both now and for at least the medium term future. Instead of naively hoping coal will go away we need to work with the industry to develop sustainable solutions.

Given Port Waratah's track history I am confident it will deliver on its commitment and T4 will be a major asset to Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and NSW.

The forth coal terminal is vital to this city's economy & Australia's. The local mining industry is at a standstill, people are losing their jobs & businesses are losing contracts to overseas companies. Newcastle & the hunter does not have much else to offer in the way of big business & infrastructure. The city was almost crippled when BHP closed down, so many people lost their jobs & many people were affected. This city would not survive if it lost its mining industry. Every week I hear of another friend or family member who has taken up work in QLD or WA simply because they couldn't get work locally. These people are spending 4 to 5 weeks away from their family only to come home for a week & then disappear again. How is that a stable family? The longer the forth terminal is delayed the worse it will get for our local economy. It will bring more jobs, more business & more money to our local area. I understand people are worried about the impacts that coal mining has on our health & the environment but I am more worried about the impact it will have on the economy if it doesn't go ahead.
