With the environmental safeguards proposed the community is adequately protected. Newcastle (and NSW) need to provide resources that the world is prepared to pay for.

As a proud father of three and an honoured Novocastrian I am in full support of the proposed T4 Terminal. I strongly believe that this project is essential in providing much needed employment opportunities for local people and their families.
I have the upmost respect for the environment and our surroundings and encourage my kids to do the same. However after living in Newcastle for 39 years I honestly believe the effects of the existing Coal Terminals have had a minimal impact on the local area.

As a proud wife and mother of three boys I am 100 percent in support of the T4 terminal. I believe that without these infrastructures, Newcastle and it's local people would suffer greatly.
These projects are a major contributor to our economy and are critical for survival of local businesses.
As a soon to be resident of the Stockton vicinity, I believe projects such as the T4 terminal will provide local job opportunity for our children and future generations.

Any work which will benifit our local community by producing local jobs and sustainable incomes for local families should be a high priority to invest in.
T4 will give a great boost to the area, which at these times is a must - Most of our local ( N.S.W) economy is generated by the coal industry, to limit a increase to the industry would be a bad decision for all.

I believe in the interest of growth in the hunter and the commitment to the environment protection by port waratah coal services and associated contractors that that the T4 project would be a great asset to the Hunter/Newcastle community. We need more local jobs and i believe the new technology and design of the infrastructure involved in T4 will provide more than adequate noise and dust reduction to protect our environment.

Construction of T4 will be an important opportunity to offer security against the fluctuations in coal market cycles and provide the necessary capacity for long term exports.

Continuation of the T4 approval process will generate economic benefits to the NSW community.

I strongly support this development. Exports of black coal are an extremely important aspect of the NSW economy, as well as contributing the second largest share of any commodity to Australia's exports. More generally, in 2012-13, the gross value added by the Australian mining industry totalled $151.2 billion. Mining activities accounted for $140.4 billion of this total with exploration and mining support services contributing $10.8 billion. The Australian mining industry accounted for 10.1 per cent of Australia's GDP in 2012-13, up from 9.6 per cent in 2011-12. Coal exports contributed over $38 billion to Australia's export earnings in 2012-13. (source: BREE Resources and Energy Quarterly, Sept 2013)

State-of-the-art port facilities are crucial to ensure that Australia maintains its competitive advantage and retains market share in the global commodities market. The T4 development in particular is an important part of the future of the coal mining industry in NSW, and will help to enable NSW coal mines to take full advantage of the next wave of coal demand from advancing Asian economies.

On a moral level, access to affordable fossil fuels has helped hundreds of millions of people in developing Asian nations lift from poverty and move from subsistence farming to modern standards of living. Australian black coal is one of the cleanest, cheapest sources of energy available to these economies. Indeed, when compared to the main alternative, low caliorific value Indonesian coals, Australian coal generally has far lower levels of sulphur, ash, and higher energy output per unit of CO2. Coal costs around half the price of gas on a unit energy basis. In many ways, by far the greatest aid we can provide to Asia's poor is to sell their economies our clean, cheap coal.

The T4 facility will operate to world's best-practice environmental standards. The location of the T4 facility is already highly industrialised, and, in part, a contaminated landfill facility. The development presents a unique opportunity to ensure near-term remediation of a large area of contaminated land, and, in the long-term that the terminal facility is properly rehabilitated at the end of the life cycle of the infrastructure through the use of a formal rehabilitation and closure plan, and suitable rehabilitation guarantee.

I strongly urge the Minister to approve the proposed development.
