I object to this wind farm for many reasons, including, it ruins the natural landscape, having large white metallic objects in the sky ruins the natural beauty of the area. It effects bird migration, increases risks of bush fires, which is a problem considering how rural the area is and how slow the response to a fire would be. They would be inefficient considering the small amount of wind the area gets and therefore would be a waste of money. They are also not good for the environment since in the process of breaking down they devalue the land by polluting the soil and damaging the wildlife around.

I lodge strong objection to the Pottinger wind power generation facility on the grounds that it is inherently incapable of supplying steady reliable electric power being subject at all times to the vagaries of prevailing winds in the area. Such facilities can never provide steady reliable power and should not therefore ever be contemplated as prime power sources. I submit that engineering design of a bridge that only functions correctly 30% of the time would be manifestly useless and would be condemned as dangerous. I do not see why the same engineering criteria are not applied to wind systems - they do not work! Further the cost is enormous for intermittent power production and to make matters worse these systems destroy native flora and fauna and cause objectionable level of noise to surrounding domiciles. Finally when the do fail disposal of the component part produces another environmental disaster.

I'm a young person who has lived in Deniliquin most of my life. I support the Pottinger Wind Farm because of the benefits to the local economy in Deniliquin as well as the job and training opportunities which will be great for young people. I also support this project as the developer is an Australian owned business and the project will be located on land owned by Australian families.

Pottinger Wind Energy Project. As a regular visitor to the Boorooban and Hay area for the last 15 years for recreational reasons, I am pleased to support the proposed Pottinger Wind Energy Project. This development will not only produce valuable wind powered energy, but it will also reduce our carbon footprint by many, many tonnes each year. It will also provide property owners with reliable income for many years and this will play a vital role in supporting these owners in the inevitable drought years that lie ahead. It is vital that the tourist vision of the famous Hay Plains is not impacted by such develoments, and I am pleased to see that this imperative will be met by placing the Pottinger turbines well distant from the Cobb Highway. I commend this proposal.

I have reviewed this project proposal and respond with my knowledge of the farming practices and the habitat values of the land withing and adjacent to the proposed renewable energy development. I support the Pottinger Wind Farm development as it will provided much needed renewable energy to the grid. It's location will not impact the activities of neighbouring farms of detract from the natural beauty of the Hay plains.

It provides a fantastic opportunity to utilise land for renewable power closer to markets that need it and away from populations whilst not detracting from the farming capacity of the land. It is a Win Win for energy users, land owners and the community.

Submission that the Pottinger Wind Farm be a controlled action, not be granted a building permit and NEVER be constructed

1. I believe that the Pottinger Wind Farm relies on the Medieval technology of Wind Turbines, powered by a weather fuel the Wind. Are totally inefficient, unreliable and totally uneconomic and should never be considered as being suitable to provide baseload electricity 24/7 to a modern society.

This is because Wind turbines can only produce electricity, when the wind speed is between 12kms/hr and 90kms/hr. As a result, Wind turbines are reported to produce electricity on average for only 35% of their rated capacity or on average for eight hours per day, this leads to random periods of hours, WITHOUT ANY ELECTRICITY BEING PRODUCED, (occasionally in some calm periods, wind turbines produce NO electricity for days at a time. These random calm or gale force periods of zero electricity production, has to be provided to the consumer by a second, standby, backup electricity generator either coal or gas, which makes the cost to the consumer, unnecessarily high.

The claim by Pottinger Wind Farm that it will power 830,000 homes (for 24hrs/day) is highly misleading. The fact that as quoted above wind turbines only produce on average 35% of their rated capacity, means that in actual fact Pottinger Wind Farm will only power 830,000 homes for 8 hours a day. The other 16 hours the 830,000 homes will have to find another source of power such as coal or gas, making Pottinger Wind Farm completely uneconomical. To claim the BESS will fill the gap, is to double count the production of Pottinger Wind Farm.

2. The spreading of thousands of Wind Turbines across rural Australia will end up creating the great danger, of having horrendous bushfires on an annual basis.

Rural Australia is known as one of the most bushfire prone areas on Earth. Scattering tens of thousands of wind turbines (individually known to catch fire occasionally and the older they get the more likely it is to happen) on 250m high towers across the Countryside. This must increase the risk of a fire starting from a Wind Turbine100,000 times. The risk will encompass all rural landholders, country towns and rural cities. Everybody will be in danger and on tenterhooks, every Total Fire Ban Day. The danger of a fire reaching serious proportions, is greatly increased as the Wind Turbines, physical height, (250m), blade diameter and created wind turbulence, stops any ariel water bombers operating within 5km to 10km of any Wind Farm. This would mean any fire started by malfunctioning wind turbine, would reach major proportions before any attempt could be made to control it. The loss of life, loss of livestock, wildlife and property has potential to be huge. The presence of the wind turbines will greatly endanger all residents, livestock, wildlife and the property of Rural Australia See wind turbines when they burn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVHzfUWul2Y

3. The Pottinger Wind Farm will slaughter iconic birds and bats, over a 50 km area of the Hay district, for 24 hours a day. It will be very detrimental to the local ecology. Particularly decimate protected Wedge Tail Eagles.

4. When all the processes that go into the construction of Wind Turbines. A. mining. B. Transport. C. Manufacture. D. Transport. E. Site preparation and construction. E. Operation. F. Dismantling and restoration. G. Transport. Disposal of Waste to landfill.. When all these procedures are taken into account, there is a strong possibility that more so call Green House gases will have been produced, than saved by the intermittent production of the Pottinger Wind Farm.

5. If it should be approved to be built, then the Pottinger Wind Farm should be mandated to have a Public Liability policy to cover fire and other possible damage to surrounding areas of at least $500million to $1billion.
For the above reasons I strongly believe the Pottinger Wind Farm should definitely not be granted a planning permit.

Pottinger Wind Farm - SSD-59235464. I am writing in supportof the Wind farm project. I have been a Kangaroo and rabbit shooter on the Wargum property and have an intimate knowledge of the area proposed. The siting of the project at West Burrumbogie and with turbines in the North section of Wargum is an excellent choice. There is sufficient distance to the Cobb highway to preserve the landscape and also plenty of distance to the homestead. The siting of the wind farm is also a practical choice with is proximity to existing high voltage power lines. I am a supporter of wind energy technology and support the Hooke family at Wargum in their involvement.

This process is the most difficult and CANNOT be legal! Placing my objection to the Pottinger Wind project could NOT have more hurdles and inefficiencies. I OBJECT to the Pottinger Wind Project because of our unique landscapes on the Hay Plains. We are such an individual parcel of the earth and none other like it in the southern hemisphere and only two others world wide. I don’t believe that any of the energy projects are looking out for our environment and are nothing but a huge transfer of $$$. The inefficiencies of turbines, the fact that they require base load power to go, and the drain on our natural resources to construct, transport and erect have not been adequately factored in. Also the decommissioning of the sight needs some sort of a bond applied for and airtight guarantee that the land WILL infact be returned to it’s NATURAL state. The roads in our area are not designed to take this volume of traffic, both in size and amount. Who is covering the roads maintenance?

I OBJECT to the Pottinger wind project due to the fact that it will be taking away for the productive lands of our agricultural area. The fact that very few of the many turbines I’ve seen are ever being productive. Also Due to the fact that they need base load power to run and Due to the fact of the amount of natural resources needed to build and erect these monstrosities. They are NOT ENVIRO FRIENDLY!!!!

I am a strong supporter of the Pottinger Wind Farm,I am especially impressed by how the involved landholders have managed their farms with a strong environmental consciousness. I understand the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process, which typically spans over 24 months, aims to assess the impact on local biodiversity thoroughly. From what I've seen, the EIS for the Pottinger project has been conducted with precision and care. I want to especially commend the landholders for their proactive efforts over many years to identify and protect environmentally valuable areas, which have been completely excluded from the development's footprint. This thoughtful consideration demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding the land and community interests."

This project will only contribute to catastrophic damage to our national electricity grid given that renewables are too unreliable to power a modern economy.

The planned environmental damage to native flora and fauna and waterways is unforgiveable. The loss of agricultural land will create food security issues. The land will be unliveable for both the people and the native wildlife given the industrialisation of the area.
