There has been enough destruction of our history, in the name of progress, and this wilful ignorance and search for profit above history must cease. Once destroyed, we can never regain our historical buildings. They need to be preserved for future generations.
I am not a member of any political party and have never made a political donation.

As someone who works both in the urban planning realm and who grew up in the Parramatta district I strongly object to the oversight of quality planning to work and design around existing elements to achieve a better outcome for Parramatta , NSW and humanity alike.
The bulldozing of our countries past has long been the status quo within many levels of government and society, and extend to you, the challenge to not fall in to such paradigms
Whilst this one email may not be adequate to pursuade a capital fuelled machine from diverting it's tracks, I would expect that the community of Parramatta and NSW would like to see you step in and make a difference

These buildings are irreplaceable and should be kept intact and well looked after within Parramatta city.
Please note:
I strongly support, and would argue for, the Powerhouse Museum being kept and operational in Ultimo, Sydney.
I am in favour of the riverside area which had been earmarked for the much reduced version of a Parramatta Powerhouse Museum to be opened up to public space.
I would be in favour of a separate Museum or similar attraction to be built at Parramatta, but at a different location and without the demolishing of historic buildings.
I am not adverse to development however in the Parramatta area this should be done without mass destruction of our heritage buildings and sites and all development should be in keeping with the historical nature of the city.
I feel very strongly about these points and would like my voice heard and taken seriously.

I find it appalling and sadly ironic that the State Government sees installing a museum in place of actual heritage as preferential in one of the oldest European settlements in Australia.
I ask that you and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment please reconsider the museum's new location.

Writing to ask that these beautiful properties be kept as it is. The loss of such lovely buildings would be a shame. We need to preserve and prioritise our heritage buildings.
Whilst museums and cultural institutions are important aspects to communities, and would be a great addition to the area, they should NOT come at the cost of losing some of the vital heritage locations around the city. They must be protected.
I cannot understand how a building considered worthy of heritage status, that links the city to its historical past could so easily be approved for destruction because a new purpose is viewed as more important.
I appreciate your time reading this and fervently hope it is taken into consideration.
Thank you.

The Governments own assessments by the Department considers them significant - so how can demolition even be considered at all?
All Australians has a connected to our early heritage which is progressively being lost as more and more development destroys these valuable and unique buildings.
Please DO NOT allow demolition to proceed.

Parramatta's spectacular heritage, as this nation's second settlement and home to many great developments in our nation's history (including the central role of the Cumberland Plains in rooting our prosperity in agriculture), needs to be recognised by developing a significant new museum in Parramatta, not just an outpost of a Sydney-focused institution. And this can be done by expanding very significantly on what has already been done, including the excellent and under-rated "Parramatta Heritage and Visitor Information Centre" that occupies a site near the famous Lennox Bridge. The amazing precinct at the Cumberland Hospital site is worthy of such a venue.
Allied to the crying need for a new museum is the need to preserve the fantastic heritage that we already have, namely the irreplaceable Willow Grove mansion and the buildings at St Georges Terrace. This precious heritage must be preserved.

So much of our history and character has been demolished over the last few decades, to be replaced with big commercial, bland buildings with no character or connection with the communities in which they are built.
I want to live in a city with character and a city that preserves and acknowledges our history. I want buildings that are connected to their communities.
All of the great cities of the world like London and New York preserve their historical buildings. Please don't let Sydney keep turning into a bland, faceless, generic city with no preservation of its history.
Please listen to the people in your community.
·Keep the Powerhouse museum in Ultimo
·Create a museum and cultural destination at historic Cumberland Hospital Precinct in North Parramatta.
·Save historic Willow Grove & St George Terraces and realise the existing Parramatta Council vision for a public square along the river.
Can you please respond to these concerns and work with the community to create this much better outcome for the long term - for the whole city.
I declare that I have not made any reportable political donations.

It is an act of vandalism to remove our history, our few remaining heritage buildings in order to build a conference centre and display gallery.
Putting the question of heritage temporarily to one side, to build this centre on a flood plane and with the example of buildings in Darling Harbour being demolished and replaced within a relatively short space of time, makes the idea a totally senseless one.
We ask you to leave our heritage, our history, alone.
Do not destroy this.

Horrified to hear that this is being demolished or undergoing significant construction. This should be valued for generations to come. It is not ok to take this from the wider public.
