We object to the extension of operating hours to permit 24 hours dispatching of trucks to transport waste as we feel this could create a huge noise and in particular throughout the night. Currently we already hear the occasional truck noises which causes us sleepless nights and the extension will cause situation to get worse.
We strongly object to the increase of general waste and the increase of the temporary storage of garden waste as we very concerned that the bad smell will only increase . currently at some days it is impossible to go outside or open the windows . in summer the bad smell is unbearable and with this increase the smell will only get worse.
We are concerned that this development modification will decrease the value of properties in Spring Farm and put many families in financial pressure including ourselves.
In summer days where the bad smell was around we regretted buying and moving into Spring Farm and now with this development modification we are very concern and unhappy with our decision to buy in Spring Farm.

To whom it may concern.
I have purchased a new home in Spring Farm in February 2023. Having waste recovery facilities that are modern, sustainable and fit for purpose is very important. I am unable to find information in this development plan that details how they are expecting to double their capacity.

There should be an area that can hold enough product as to avoid dumping untreated, or partially treated material into the surrounding environment impacting all those living around the facility, especially during large scale weather events including flooding and impacting the nearby Nepean River.

Also it is stated that the Odor is not expected to increase. I do not believe this to be accurate. I am directly affected by the odor. Though it has not been terrible, I am afraid that the smell will significantly increase reducing our living standards and air quality. Please ensure this is properly investigated and there are control measures in place to control odor.

Thank You.

Given the existing issues with noise disruption, the high frequency of truck-related accidents in our vicinity, the safety risks posed to local children, and the constant wear and tear on our roads due to continuous truck traffic, I stand firmly against this proposal. Additionally, the trucks often neglect to secure their loads properly, resulting in debris scattering, further damaging vehicles and contributing to the litter problem in our community.

Based on concerns of noise pollution, the fact that there are too many truck accidents already in our area, the danger to the young children in the area, and the fact that the damage to the roads due to the trucks running through all the time, I strongly object to this proposal.
Most of the time the trucks coming through don't even cover the load, and debris often flies out damaging cars and creating litter is also a problem.

This modification should only align with construction of Stage 2 of the Spring Farm Parkway. This would significantly reduce truck movements into Spring Farm and surrounding suburbs thus mitigating most of the traffic impacts from waste management vehicle movements. Consequently, it would also reduce noise concerns in the surrounding area.

The current odour monitoring requirements for the site is noted to be in line with “Approved Methods and Guidance for the Modelling and Assessment of Air Pollutants in NSW” (NSW EPA, 2016). The increased capacity from this modification should require beyond best practice odour and monitoring controls. Despite the reporting of little to no odour reports to Veolia as detailed in recent Veolia annual reports, the site does emit significant odour as supported by the local councils (Camden Council) agency advice, particularly during the early months of the year (Feb, Mar).

Just recently buying in the area. I was made aware of this request i would not of bought here. This will negatively impact all residents for multiple reasons including noise. Traffic and smell.

Increasing the operating hours and waste capacity within the plant will negatively impact on the surrounding homes. The smell and the noise will negatively impact the area and the growing suburb. This also provides more costs associated with building within the local area when needing to add in extra glazing to windows and ensuring proper ventilation is provided with the house to ensure the smell doesn’t come through the house. I personally will not be happy living in an area with a plant that is increasing its capacity and hours.

I’d like to formally object to this project.

There are already days that we smell the tip so these substantial increases from almost double to double would also increase how often this impacts our ability to enjoy our outside spaces.

This a an area Thats primarily young families and we’re already subject to a lot of trucks and construction noise as it’s still being developed- making the garbage trucks able to attend 24/7 will only increase this further and further disturb families.

In the end it boils down to this is a residential not an industrial area and we need to be treated as such.

The increase in waste will only exacerbate the stench local communities already have to put up with.
The 24/7 heavy vehicle movement will create more noise (air brakes at all hours).
Once the Spring Farm Parkway is open from the expressway, Liz Kernohan Drive will be at capacity with local traffic movement of the residents in nearby suburbs. This proposal is ludicrous and should not go ahead

I am an asthma patient living near to pit in spring farm, and there are days when the area has such a pungent smell due to this pit operations that I can’t even breathe well outside my home and have to lock myself in room.
I have reported this to the environmental protection dept. at least four times in the last 16months through official compliant. Even there was a single instance where I was informed by the dept. that inspector from violia will visit the area to check the level of pungent smell.
Knowing that now the pit will be expanded, I am certain that this uncomfortable smells will worsen further impacting my ability to breathe. Additionally, the 24hrs operation will worsen the congestion in this residential area.
I am completely against this proposal.

The trucks that are coming from them few businesses in that area is already ridiculous. I live close to Liz Kernohan Drive and have already tried to voice my concern about the speed and sound of the trucks coming from that area. There is already one of the company’s that is running trucks out of there 24hours as they shake my house all through the night. I have contacted the epa and council but nobody wants to deal with it. I also have safety concerns for my children as they have to cross this road to get to their school. Which I believe there should have been an overpass already built to protect them.
Veolia also seem to struggle with the stockpile they currently have as on numerous occasions the smell coming from there is almost unbearable.
