Im a concered electricty user. The industrailisation of Ag is very concerning, as I think it threatens our food security.
Will we have reliable consistant power for Australian. the weather is not a relable source. sometime the wind blows and sometime the sun shine BUT not all the time.

As a young person having grown up in the area, I'm also looking to come home to the family from as a farmer. The industrialisation of agriculture will have no land for the young to manage. Ag land needs to be left to grow food for the generations of people to come. Please reconsider this project.

I have been involve with WISE for many years.
Endangered species like the Plains-wanderer and the Swift parrot are already struggling. This project could push them to extinction.

I am concerned for the people that will live near these installation. The info sound has been studied by Nasa in the last 1990 NASA studies showed infrasound to have definite health implication to human, disruption of sleep and a constant low frequency noise disturbing their lives.

Who will be responsible for the maintaining the installation?
Chris Minis in new budget estimates said "the landowner is solely responsible for decommissioning and that the state government will legally pursuer them to pay for and conduct the decommissioning"
When the decommissioning sends farms broke because they cannot afford it. The encomberment will then fall to local government. Then ultimately the ratepayers will pay!

What an environmental disaster!

Yet another unreliable energy project, promising the world but only delivering agricultural and environmental devastation.

The landowner will be left to cover the decommissioning costs and highly likely the subsidies will run out and the development owner will not be found when this whole nightmare comes crashing down.

How many projects are in this area? How much contamination from the BPA released into the environment by leading edge erosion from turbine blades will pollute land and water ways? Where is the dump for the unrecyclable turbine blades?

Stop polluting our environment and destroying habitat for native flora and fauna.

This is yet more environmental vandalism, renewables are a disaster for regional Australia.

The Bullawah Wind 'Farm' Factory like all renewables will contribute to the ever expanding destruction of Australia's natural and rural landscapes, and extensive environmental destruction.
Renewable projects such as this proposal also contribute to a massive increase in open cut mining in order to supply the critical minerals required to build them, as well as associated infrastructure. Industry experts cite an estimated increase in open cut mining in the order of 5000% to achieve net zero policies.
The combined destruction of these endeavors is incalculable. The resulting electricity from projects such as Bullawah only amounts to around 2 days a week. Battery backup can only feasibly add a full day of power per week, so all up 3 days a week.
This will end in disaster for all Australians. The capital costs of this project should instead be channeled into reliable baseload.
The Bullawah wind project should not be built.

How is the company going to put protections in place to protect the public against pollution? The EPA has a ACT in place to protect the general environmental duty, GED. The Act is in place to minimise the risk of harm to humans health from pollution.
How is the Bisphonal A threat to humans, their food chain and the environment going to be treated?

I am writing to formally object to the Bullawah Wind Electricity Generating Works proposal on the basis of substantial cumulative environmental, agricultural, community, and health concerns associated with the development.

Cumulative Environmental Impacts
The proposed development of 143 wind turbines across this expansive rural site represents a significant industrial footprint with potential to disrupt local ecosystems and agricultural activities. Given the surrounding environment's sensitivity and importance, the cumulative effects of such a large-scale industrial development are deeply concerning. These effects include:

Wildlife and Habitat Disruption: Avian populations, particularly migratory and local bird species, are at risk due to potential collisions with turbines. The introduction of such infrastructure could disrupt existing habitats and migration patterns. In addition, the noise and light pollution associated with turbine operations might sterilise vast areas of surrounding land, affecting native species reliant on undisturbed habitats.
Impact on Land Use: The large footprint of the proposed wind farm and associated infrastructure could alter local land use patterns, affecting farming, grazing, and conservation efforts. This development also risks exacerbating conflicts between energy projects and sustainable agricultural practices, with long-term implications for the local economy and food production.
Potential Pollution from Turbine Blade Materials
One critical issue insufficiently addressed in the proposal is the potential for environmental pollution from the degradation of turbine blade materials. Specifically, the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in the epoxy resins of turbine blades is alarming. Over time, the wear and tear on blades can result in the shedding of BPA nanoparticles into the surrounding environment.

Contamination Risk: BPA is a known endocrine disruptor, linked to various health issues such as reproductive problems and developmental defects. The risk of BPA contaminating rivers, water catchments, and agricultural soils through rainwater runoff is of great concern. This would have profound effects on local food chains, water supplies, and soil health, potentially turning into a "next PFAS disaster."
Health and Safety Concerns
The health impacts associated with BPA exposure, particularly long-term, even at low levels, should not be understated. Potential health issues include hormonal disruption and an increased risk of cancer, posing significant risks to nearby communities.

The cumulative shedding of BPA nanoparticles, alongside other industrial emissions, could create a hazardous living environment for residents, farmers, and wildlife. Immediate steps need to be taken to mitigate these health risks, such as stringent monitoring of emissions and the use of BPA-free materials.

Request for Condition of Consent
If the project is approved, I request that this be contingent on the following conditions:

BPA-Free Materials: To avoid potential health and environmental risks, all turbine blades must be manufactured using BPA-free materials, ensuring alignment with modern safety standards.
Comprehensive Decommissioning Plan: The project should be legally required to establish an upfront, government-managed decommissioning fund. This ensures the responsible removal of the turbines at the end of their lifecycle without burdening host landowners or local governments. Such provisions must be clearly outlined in the conditions of consent to provide transparency and protection to surrounding landowners.
Wildlife Concerns: Low-Frequency Noise and Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)
The potential impact of low-frequency noise and electromagnetic fields (EMF) emitted by turbines on native fauna has not been adequately studied. For example:

Koalas: These animals communicate via low-frequency mating calls that travel over large distances in the Australian bush. The introduction of turbines emitting low-frequency noise could interfere with their communication, reproduction, and ability to maintain healthy populations.
Bats and Other Fauna: Bats, which navigate using echolocation, could also be affected by turbine noise emissions. This issue is not limited to bats and koalas but applies to other species within a 10-20km radius of the proposed turbines. It is crucial that these effects be rigorously studied before any approvals are granted, and mitigation strategies must be implemented.
Conclusion
While renewable energy development is essential, it should not proceed at the expense of environmental sustainability, public health, or community well-being. The proposed Bullawah Wind Electricity Generating Works, driven by a foreign-owned multinational, presents significant risks to the local environment, agriculture, and residents. These concerns must be addressed thoroughly before any project approval.

I believe that this is an inappropriate location for a project of this size and calibre. Stop ruining our agricultural land with products that are far from renewable!

The cumulative impact of these projects is going to be devastating to our landscape and the unique environment in which we live.
Despite the promises of supporting local employment this is very much over stated .
The local road net work is not suitable for the increased volumes of traffic.
The financial benefit to neighbours is unsatisfactory.
The benefits to local towns is overstated in that the community benefits are contributing to what I would see as the shortfall of Government core responsibilities.

Currently the proposal shows turbines and ancillary infrastructure such as access tracks within native vegetation, this fails to demonstrate the requirement in the BAM to initially avoid biodiversity impact…….The Scoping Report has identified numerous threatened species and threatened ecological communities as present within the footprint and likely to be impacted by the proposed development. The threatened fauna listed in Table 3.6 includes numerous birds that have been found to be particularly susceptible to collision with wind turbines, including raptors such as the Black Falcon….”

The Bullawah Wind Farm project, consisting of 143 wind turbines with a tip height of 300 meters and a 2.5 GW battery storage system (359 MW/2 hours), is one of the most important renewable energy investments in Australia, valued at $2.5 billion. Although such projects are important for transitioning to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions, they also bring substantial environmental challenges. This submission critically examines the environmental impacts of the Bullawah Wind Farm, with a focus on habitat fragmentation, incorrect carbon accounting, biodiversity loss, temperature changes, and legal compliance.

Wind & Solar so called ‘farms’ do not provide a reliable energy source.
They destroy the natural environment & in the nuclear age in the near future they will become detritus & will have to be removed at great expense to the Local Community, with the toxic Wind Turbine Blades not being able to be recycled.

These Wind ‘farms’ may appear to be of financial benefit to those who accommodate them but they risk being responsible for their extremely costly removal.
Hundreds of others will be negatively affected with pylons & cables criss-crossing adjacent lands.
The destruction of the environment will be significant & our iconic landscapes will be destroyed.

If we are to do away with Coal & Gas, the only reliable energy source is Nuclear.
When the powers that be realise that we are living in the Nuclear age & wish to remain an advanced country, much of what is planned for Hay & other districts will become obsolete.
