HVO North Open Cut Coal Continuation Project

Growing up in Singleton HVO has been a massive part of the community. During my school life HVO supported the aboriginal center at Singleton High School which I was a massive part of, they partnered with the Newcastle Knights to help with a fitness program at the high school coming to events and taking a group of us into the knights training facilities. When I was working at the local council HVO would have people involved in the national plant a tree day which I helped run on the day. Now been working at HVO as either a contractor or permanent employee just recently, working here has given me a great life from holidays to last year getting married now buying a house and having my first child this job means can give my family the best start out in life. My role at HVO isn't part of production I work in the many other roles this place provides.

Continuation of HVO provides steady and secure job for at least 1500 personnel as well as providing work for hundred's on local businesses.
Keeping the Hunter Valley economy going. Providing stable and securing local jobs to the local area, keeping the need for people to travel for work to a minimum

Continuing support for mining when it is still necessary will benefit the local community into the future

I highly support the project at hunter valley operations. I have personally been employed at HVO since the start of 2018 and will do so for hopefully the remaining life expectancy of the mine. I highly enjoy the work we do here as a team, and I am grateful for the great work HVO does for the community. Every single employee and contractor at this site has made long term friends and gained life skills they can practice inside and outside of this site. I personally think if our project does not go ahead, it will have a massive impact on our unemployment rate and our community as a whole. Meaning too many people in our great hunter region will be left without a job, without an income, forcing families of all ages, young and old to relocate having a massive negative impact on our local community, small business and surrounding areas. I highly support hunter valley operations continuation project not only for us current employees and community but giving great opportunity to our future kids and locals of the area.

We need jobs, we need coal.

We need this project to continue to keep employment in the area that sustains the town for employment in the mines and in the local businesses.

We also need the coal to keep our economy going and to keep base load power.

The continuation of HVO is a must for jobs and communities surrounding. It’s the livelihood of every family involved in mining. I support the project continuation of HVO north pit

Where else is everyones power going to come from.

Coal mining in the valley is the largest job source. It is not an ideal industry. But it is what we have due to politicians selling Australian assets for short term gains with no sight of the future. Until Australia begins making and selling products we will need to continue mining as a source of income. Hopefully working to a future where we will no longer need to rely on selling our finite assets to make money as a nation.

I support the extension of Hvo , they support and contribute a lot to the area I am local to

Financially supporting my family through employment.

I believe the continuation of mining at HVO is integral to the employment within the local community, as well as the economic benefit to the local area and further abroad.

I have worked at this mine for 15 years now, since I was 23. Like most people in the Hunter Valley, mining is all I know. My father, sister and many friends have or are all directly or indirectly employed by mining.
Everyone knows someone that works at HVO in this area. It is literally the heart of mining in the Valley being situated right in the middle of Muswellbrook and Singleton.
This mine is one of the more isolated mines in the Valley also, with very few residential neighbors and no townships within close proximity.
Everyone agrees that gradual improvements should be made with the environment and energy. But this is not going to happen overnight. And not allowing projects like this to continue will do nothing to improve ‘climate change’ or anything like that whatsoever. What it will do is destroy people, families and communities in this area.
If people from the city are so against projects like this continuing then I strongly encourage them to put Solar farms on Bondi beach, wind farms in Sydney Harbor..I didn’t think so.
I have my first child expecting this August and I absolutely rely on HVO North continuing for years to come to guarantee the future of my family
