HVO is a valuable contributor to the local, state & federal economies. They are actively evolving the mining industry.

HVO is a significant employer in the Hunter Valley and major sponsor of the local community. There are a large number of families in the Hunter that rely on HVO for their income both directly and indirectly as they support many other local businesses.

I work for Programmed here in the Hunter Valley, at the Hunter Valley Operations coal handling prep plant. It’s a fantastic place to work due to Glencores values and care for the environment, the people that are directly affected by mining and the surrounding municipalities. We are all happy employees because their values are reflected into our attitudes. All of our families benefit as to the local economy. I support the continuation project 100%.

I believe this project is important for the job security of communities in the Hunter Valley and surrounding areas.
It is also important for it to go ahead to support all other businesses that rely on the mining sector to survive.

My family has been in mining for over 150 years. Mining provides economic growth in towns and opportunities for employment. The HVO expansion will allow opportunities for the community. Hospitals, organisations and schools will be provided with funding.

Without mining in the area my family and I would have to leave the area in search of work

I believe the continuation of hunter valley operations is crucial to not only the business but also the community as someone that works at a workwear store in singleton, with a mine that employs over 1500 people it also helps keeps my work in business if this mine site were to close than all of those people would loose there jobs and also we would loose there business and possibly putting a dent in the job I work at and eventually cutting me out. This mine site needs to stay open not only for the 1500 working men and women with family’s to support but also my coworkers and I.

I am in full support of the HVO extension. The Glencore Yancoal joint venture has been a very positive force in the coal mining industry in the Hunter Valley. Currently working on the site as a contractor in a staff role, I feel qualified to state that the operation is run to an excellent standard. HVO is diligent in their responsibilities to minimise impacts to the environment and cultural sites. Believe me, their Ground Disturbance Permits are painfully thorough!

Continuation of the HVO North and South ensures continuity of my employment and therefore my continued residence in the Singleton community and ability to support my family of five.
Environmentally, I believe that the continuation project offers a better rehabilitation outcome for the mine sites at the end of mining. Also, until feasible clean alternative energy sources on a large scale are developed, I feel that HVO has a place to contribute to the country and worlds energy needs.

The continuation will provide and maintain jobs/work for the local community.

This is a good initiative for the economic growth of the area
