I am very strongly in support of this project, it is so critical to the 1500 employees and their families that work at HVO and the hundreds of outside businesses who rely on this mine for their business and its employees and families, yes the future of coal mining in the hunter is on the decline with mines coming to their end of life but we still need this valuable resource to provide the very critical revenue for the state and federal governments for our hospitals, nurses, schools, police, roads ect, providing this project gets the approval by 2035 this will be the only glencore mine in operation in the hunter valley, please on behalf of the citizens in the hunter valley approve this project , it is so critical to all communities for their futures.

I believe the hvo continuation project should be approved for many reasons. Firstly as reported in the media recently if coal is such a dying industry should we as a country use as much of this commodity as possible while coal is still an asset exporting to other countries and receiving the most value as possible for as long as possible. This in turn will invest billions of revenue into the government to spend on education, hospitals and infrastructure over the next two decades. Can we as a country turn our back on this possible investment for Australia. Secondly if the continuation projects do not go ahead there will be at least one thousand people out of work as well as the flow on effects of small local businesses and suppliers closing due to no business. Singleton and Muswellbrook in particular will struggle with less money coming into the towns. Not to mention all the local charities that will be affected leading to more people and families struggling. Hunter valley operations is also a responsible entity in the area limiting the effects of mining on the local community. As a business they accept the serious responsibility of environmental commitments and strive hard to uphold the standards required to operate. I believe the hvo continuation project should be approved.

As a current employee at Hunter Valley Operations as well as a local community member, I have been able to see firsthand the positive impact that HVO has on our community through donations, grants and community initiatives. The continuation project will not only allow the jobs of current employees (including myself) to continue, but create 1500 new roles within the local area. The continuation will also support the long term growth of our economy and energy sources whilst we continue to look at renewable services. I support the continuation project until 2050 and would be very pleased to see it go ahead.

Fuchs supports the HVO North Open Cut Coal Continuation Project as it supports many jobs within the mine itself and ten times as many jobs with the network of suppliers that support the mine, which includes Fuchs Lubricants. This mine has an enormous flow on effect with the work and money generated through this mine flowing all the way down the Hunter Valley into Newcastle creating a strong and prosperous economy. The continuation project also supports local community groups and has a major focus on the environment both during the mines life and also the with a solid plan for remediation after the mine ceases operation.

This proposal will secure around 1500 full time jobs, around $500M annual expenditure will local businesses, pay heaps of taxes and royalties to governments to provide facilities for the community - If this mine does not go ahead the coal that HVO would have mined will simply be mined by other countries to meet the high international demand for coal and will make no difference to global emissions.

This project will provide the economic resources to support the local community in which I live and work for the rest of my working life. Due to the current political climate with Coal Mine expansion in the area, this approval is critical to Mining in the Hunter Valley and for the local economy. This community will not survive without Mining and the employment it provides to such a large proportion of the community.

I support HVO North, for everyone at our site, outside industries that rely on mining, and especially for myself, I work to support our family farm in the central west, and without my help we would be in dire need.
Mining is for everyone.

If approved, the mine will be able to continue to:

• provide around 1500 ongoing local jobs plus 600 temporary jobs constructing infrastructure upgrades
• support businesses and suppliers - HVO spends around $500 million annually with more than 700 suppliers, many of them local
• pay taxes, royalties and other payments to governments to support infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and roads, as well as pay for teachers, nurses and Police
• support charities and community projects through its community grants, charity support, sponsorship and workplace giving programs.

In 2021, HVO’s direct economic contribution was $862 million.
