This project is not a new mine but an extension of the existing Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) mine. The continuation of mining at HVO will continue to provide job opportunities, support local business and generation of mining royalties to benefit the entire state of NSW. This project seeks to maximise the resource recovery within the existing footprint and does not intend to increase the rates of extraction. The high standard of environmental compliance and community support programs ensures that mining will continue with the least impact on the community as possible. Throughout the consultation phase, HVO has ensured that the voice of the community is heard, an example being the Lemington Road/Hunter River Crossing upgrade. Our business relies on HVO and without this project being approved, we may need to seek alternative projects within the NSW state or elsewhere in Australia.

The coal industry is the lifeblood of the Hunter Valley Region, and as a former resident for 6 years I support HVO in their continuation project. I have seen first hand the positive contributions HVO, and the wider coal industry, have made within the community and would like to see this continue well into the future.
As a current employee within the Hunter Valley coal industry, with 10+ years experience working for Glencore and BHP, I have seen the effort and commitment these companies have made in ensuring they are environmentally sustainable throughout their entire operation from the coal face to the ports.
Having spent time at HVO in 2022 I know first hand that they have an excellent team to deliver success in achieving all their commitments as part of the continuation projects and support them fully in doing so.

I fully support the HVO North continuation project as it will provide thousands of jobs for the local community and surrounding areas, not just on the mine site but also for contracting, OEM and supply companies too.
HVO is also very committed to rehabilitating the area back to a natural state after mining.

I write to give my full support for the HVO extension project in the North.
I have been a part of the HVO team for 13 years now. It provides me with great opportunities that allows me to provide a great balanced lifestyle for my young family. The site and roster allow me to spend quality time with my 3 young children and wife. Be involved with the schools, sporting clubs and support my wife in her career.
The people at HVO are what set it apart from other workplaces. It's a real family environment.
HVO's approval will provide the community with countless job opportunities not only at the mine itself but all its suppliers, contractors and support the local community in the Hunter and Newcastle regions which would benefit everyone in those communities.
With the approval it will be able to continue to support local charity organisations, industries suppliers, schools and community grants. The employees of the mine, contractors and suppliers will continue to invest their money in the local community at the shops, cafes, bakers, pubs and clubs, supermarkets, restaurants etc etc. Their children will attend the local schools, tafes and participate in sporting clubs and organisations. This would continue to build a strong, vibrant and diverse local community.
In addition, with the approval the flood prone Moses crossing would be upgraded with a bridge over the Hunter River to allow access for the public and mine workers to Lemington Road in heavy rain events.
HVO offers educational assistance for their employees which I have been fortunate enough to use and will complete a trade upgrade through one of the local registered training organisations.
I fully support HVO and look forward to seeing the mine continue into the future and keep providing a great future and lifestyle for myself and all personnel involved with the site and community far and wide.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am putting forward my full support for the HVO north project for the following reason's.
Living in small rural town there isn't a whole lot of work and the opportunities this project will bring in the way of trade and upskill growth is endless not including future employment opportunities for my young family.
The 24hr run site will continue to give the option of working days or nights to allow me to support my family financially and physically. In being home weekdays, I am able to support my partner in multiple extra curriculum specialist appointments my children need to further their education, speech, fine motor skills and physical abilities.
Finally, I would like to add the financial stability a large mine provides currently and into the future only further allows the support towards my small local community, businesses and town.
I look forward to the continued support HVO North will bring to myself and local communities in the ways I have mentioned above and in far more ways into the future.

I would like to enter a submission in support of the HVO north continuation project. I work at HVO, which is jointly owned by Glencore and Yancoal. Both companys are huge contributors to the hunter valley economy, which impacts the NSW economy, and also with their coal exports contribute to the australian economy to a large extent. The project will not impact any more land than is already the case, as they reabillitate the land as they progress to new areas. The companys are very environmentally friendly, with a focus put on not impacting surrounding areas, with dust and noise management. Both companys contribute to local comunity projects in sourounding towns where their employees live. The project will provide ongoing employment for at least 1500 employees for many years to come, which can only be a good thing. I personally cannot think of one negative reason why this project should not go ahead, and encourage you to give it the tick of approval.

I am employed by HVO and have been working here for 12 years, it is a well-run operation which places safety, environment and community at the forefront of it's operating principles. It has been operating for a long time now and the continuation project is vital to support the 1500 employees and thousands more in contractors and other providers. The mine supports a great many community organisations and contributes much in the way of state revenue. Yes, coal mining will eventually be phased out to a certain degree, but I believe this should be in the form of closer scrutiny of new mine sites not shutting down existing ones and putting people out of jobs. HVO will merely be continuing as it always has, without increasing tonnes per annum, and providing certainty and security for the vital economic region of the Hunter Valley.
