The mine will be able to continue to:
• provide around 1500 ongoing local jobs plus 600 temporary jobs constructing infrastructure upgrades
• support businesses and suppliers - HVO spends around $500 million annually with more than 700 suppliers, many of them local
• pay taxes, royalties and other payments to governments to support infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and roads, as well as pay for teachers, nurses and Police
• support charities and community projects through its community grants, charity support, sponsorship and workplace giving programs.

The mining industry has been a main source of my family income for the past 3 generations and I have had the privilege to grow up in a community where mining has had a major impact. After recently moving back to the Hunter Valley I moved from the civil sector into mining because I knew how strong the bonds between the people in the workforce are and how positive of an impact it has on all local surrounding communities. HVO has reinforced this belief I have and I intend in staying at the mine and an active part of the community for the foreseeable future.
The mine not only provides a quality income and therefore a high quality of life, but also provides a good revenue source for the government, both local and national. I can also see first hand the efforts been made to mine the coal as cleanly as possible and the rehabilitation works to reduce the environmental impacts as much as possible.
For the foreseeable future Australia and the world needs coal not only for energy uses but all other forms of technology. HVO, as an existing mine, is in a perfect position to provide this need.

I support the continuation of the mine, it will provide my partner with a job to help support our family and provide jobs for many hunter valley residents. This is not a new mine and will help many with their futures.

I support this project, I believe the continued operation of HVO would bring great benefit to the local community including jobs and support to local suppliers and business.
I believe not approving this project would be detrimental to the local and broader community.

This project is a continuation of a long history of mining at Hunter Valley. It will provide jobs for 1500 people who work and live in the local community. There is still a still for coal as the transition to net zero occurs and this project aligns with that. If the coal is not mined here we will be exporting jobs overseas to places like Indonesia where the coal will still be mined.

Mining is the life blood of our region and contributes significantly to the success of the people living in the local communities and to the economic benefit of the entire state. In 2021 HVO economic benefit to the region was in excess of $862 million. Whilst economically it makes sense to support, it's the involvement in the region's development through sport and cultural support is one not matched by any other industry and provides a means for the society to be engaged and grow our regions.

At each touch point of this mine with the region, there is benefit to the local and state communities and should be approved.

When you see my address you will see that I live in QLD and may think why would this affect you - You decisions on mining affects millions of people - it actually affects all of Australia and can have the flow affect of others overseas.
The royalties, taxes and other government payments that HVO or any mine provide the Government pay for education, health care, Centrelink bills- who foots the bill when this mine is longer viable or here? The Government cannot the bill of debt they have they cannot pay for now - COVID proved that mining is critical to the economy with COVID. It is proven, it also proved a number of flaws in the Climate Change/Emission Debate!
Who is going to look after the 2100 local permeant and contracting jobs that this mine and project have? Can you the government afford to take them on in Centrelink if they do not have income? Cannot pay mortgages, car, etc/ No jobs for them to go to?
Are you going to inject 500 million dollars into the current local communities in HVO area? Because HVO Mining Operations do? They give 500 million dollars by using local business and suppliers within these areas.
Are you going (i should not state you - you will simply make the taxpayer fund it, well remember 2100 personnel no longer pay the higher-than-average tax due the mine you never approved) to fund the 80million Realignment of Lemington Road and New Bridge over the Hunter River to Replace the current Moses Crossing that is flood prone?
Are you going to spend the thousands into the millions in sponsorship, donations to local community groups, non-profit groups, schools, local council events? Again, or the taxpayer? which again you no longer have 2100 paying high tax because of the mine project you didn't approve!

This is not a new mine- this is a continuation project - there is little change to the intensity of mining and there is no increase into the annual production rates - which means they are not mining more.

Approve the project! It is not a new mining lease it is a an existing one - they have track record that they are successful, they follow the environmental laws that you make, the outcome of not approving far out weight the minority groups of climate change, emissions, green/left field that don't have proven track records such as this mine does!

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I wish to lodge this submission in the support of the HVO North Open Cut Coal Continuation Project.
I am a lifetime resident of the Singleton/Hunter Valley community, and work in the Mining industry.
I have personally experienced the economic contribution and support that HVO has made to the community since it started, which is >40 years, and the many businesses and families have prospered from this economic activity in both Singleton and the greater Hunter Valley. In 2021 HVO's direct economic contribution was $862 million.
If approved, HVO will be able to continue to:
- provide around 1500 ongoing local jobs plus 600 temporary jobs constructing infrastructure upgrades
- support businesses and suppliers - HVO spends around $500 million annually with more than 700 suppliers, many of them local
- pay taxes, royalties and other payments to governments to support infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and roads, as well as pay for teachers, nurses and Police
- support charities and community projects through its community grants, charity support, sponsorship and workplace giving programs.
HVO is not a new mine, and there is little change to the scale or intensity of mining and no increase to approved annual production rates. The world economy will require existing energy sources while it transitions to a lower emissions economy, with strong demand in the short to medium term for high quality coal.
Yours Sincerely.

- It is not a new mine - just an extension
- There will be little change to the scale / intensity of mining
- Direct economic contribution (2021) was $862 million

The HVO North Open Cut Coal Continuation Project is vital for the economic benefits for the Hunter Valley Region and personally for our family with my husband employed with HVO.
In Australia, coal is still one of the most affordable and reliable sources of energy and high quality coking coal is integral for the manufacture of products such as steel.
Open Cut mining is far safer and more cost effective than underground mining and provides less future issues once the mining has been completed in relation to re-use of land and ground subsidence.
Overall I support the extension project for HVO so long as the approved environmental and regeneration plans are adhered to, to ensure that the land is able to be used after mining is completed in the area.
