I do not find any false in responsibly using the resources that nature offers. Again it does help with lots of unemployment and makes revenue to the country and of course a reason for many for living.

This project is a must for the Singleton and surrounding community. With so many jobs being affected, to reject this submission would have a detrimental effect to the community & economics of NSW.

These projects are great for community. Providing everything from jobs to infrastructure. The roads around these projects are far better made and maintained than other public roads. The townships are thriving, people with secure jobs have money to spend locally and a reason to stay in the area.

Hvo is a wonderful place to work and employs 1600 highly skilled people who contribute highly to our economy and the local communities. With many other local coal mines coming to the end of their natural life over the next decade, this Hvo extension is critical to helping the future prosperity of the Hunter valley and nsw with its job retention and creation, support of local businesses, support of community groups and payments of royalties and taxes. Hvo is a responsible mine and does great work to minimise its impacts on the local area and environment. Please allow us to keep working at this great mine long into the future so
all of nsw can continue to enjoy the economic benefits!

I support retention of jobs in the Hunter valley and the economic contribution to the state of NSW provided by the coal industry. The coal industry supports the well-being of my family and a huge number of families in my community. At this stage, I have not seen a strategy from the NSW government on how the funds provided by NSW coal mining royalties will be supplemented or replaced if/when coal mines are closed. Nor have seen any strategy on how the local industry and business that exist due to coal mines will be supported or replaced when the mining industry contracts.
HVO is one of the largest providers of jobs and economic contributors in the region. The project has minimal impacts, mines through existing areas and has committed to reducing emissions more aggressively than required under the Net Zero safeguard mechanism. For these reasons, I believe the project should be approved.

I have had the privilege to work at Hvo for nearly 10 years and it has set me up for life and my family. I really enjoy working here and can’t see myself doing anything else I can set myself up for retirement here. This company should continue mining for years to come and the continuation project should be approved. This itself has a huge impact on the local community, local businesses, people of the hunter region. So many families and businesses are supported by Hvo and plays a big role in the global economy. Hundreds of families and individuals are employed by Hvo and we need to keep it that way.

Mining is the lifeblood of the Hunter Valley. It supports a multitude of trades/industries and to stop mining would affect all those downstream. The target for carbon emissions isn't absolute zero, it's net zero, and provided that target can be achieved and maintained there shouldn't be any concern with the continuation of the mine.

I strong agree that this project and coal mining needs to continue not only for energy purposes but for ingredients in manufacturing

I am a young professional at the beginning of my career in the mining industry, but also part of a generation that will be directly impacted by the effects of climate change over the coming decades. This position gives me exposure to both the environmental concerns that are often raised around such projects, and the important economic role that mining continues to play in our communities.

From this perspective, I believe the HVO extension is vital for our community moving forward. It allows for the continuity of employment and economic stability, whilst also providing us with the time and resources required for an effective transition. A sudden closure would not only create social and economic disruption, but would undermine the capacity required for change.

I also appreciate the amendments made to reduce the environmental and community impacts, including the significant reduction in projected emissions and improved measures to limit air quality and noise impacts. These scope changes demonstrate a willingness to adapt and respond to concerns.

Approving the HVO extension, with clear commitments to best practice and environmental accountability, is the most practical path forward. It provides the stability needed for a balanced transition, while continuing to support local communities and the broader economy.

I am satisfied with the additional measures now being implemented by the project to further reduce emissions and enhance environmental performance. These actions demonstrate a genuine commitment to balancing economic growth with responsible resource management. The project plays a significant role in supporting the local economy through jobs, community investment, and regional development, while aligning with a clear vision to achieve carbon neutrality. I believe these commitments will help ensure that environmental sustainability and economic prosperity go hand in hand for the long-term benefit of our community.

This project will provide countless amounts of jobs and opportunities for the people of the Hunter and allow for workers to successfully provide for their families. Whilst also continuing to allow for the Hunter region to grow by producing and exporting coal keeping the area sustainable.

This project will continue to support the local Hunter Valley communities through employment and suppliers. All efforts have been made to reduce the carbon footprint of this project so that it will comply with net zero legislation. Glencore has a long history of mining responsibly in all jurisdictions and can be trusted to mine this lease in the same manner whilst providing much needed royalties to the NSW government.

I’m supportive of the continued operations of HVO. A well-managed operation with strong environmental monitoring systems in place.
HVO makes a positive contribution to the local community through employment, grants, and sponsorships.
HVO’s commitment to best practice mine rehabilitation is commendable and exciting for the future landform.

As a resident living near the proposed expansion, I reckon jobs and the supposed economic benefits to the community are the only thing putting this project forward, but in my opinion, there doesn't seem to be much regard on how heavy an operation such as this proposed extension would impact the environment not just locally, but nationwide (particularly through global warming).
Simply reducing production limits still doesn't help the environment compared to simply not ripping up the land at all, and bringing different and scarcer industries to the Hunter can definitely assist with providing job opportunities to many who deserve it (not to mention putting the area on the map in a more positive light).
Air quality will probably also get more lackluster across the Hunter and end up impacting the health of mine workers and residents alike, which definitely doesn't help with my town surrounded by mining unfortunately.
Thanks for considering my submission by the way, I appreciate it. 👍

Boosting the local community along with surrounding areas. l know coal is sustainable now and in the future. People think green is good but they're unrealistic. Coal will continue help support our energy for now and the future.

The continuation project not only provides jobs for the employees but creates employment in both Muswellbrook and singleton with thus families will have to relocate meaning everything in the community get affected schools, shops towns turn into nothing overnight.
