Continuing mining for another 20 years not only keeps thousands of people directly and indirectly employed but doing it in existing mind land seems like a no brainer to me

This continuation goes further than just the mine and the direct workers. The hunter valley and nsw survive on the royalties mines provide. The workers, Local business and all hunter valley residents and visitors benefit from the mines operating! The royalties build roads, the place provides direct work, work for sub contractors and support to all the other local shops and businesses that benefit by its employees. The hunter valley and nsw need these mines for more than just the actual coal they produce.

I fully support the continuation of the HVO project. Not only has it provided a beneficial lifestyle for myself and my family, the Hunter economy could simply not survive without the contributions that HVO provides to the wider communities.

I’ve been working in mining for over 20 years, and I have seen firsthand how projects like HVO keep our towns thriving. This continuation will not only directly impact my family but my extended family with seven of us reliant on this operation for our livelihoods. The community values mining and this project means our income stays stable, our neighbourhood stays vibrant, and our future stays grounded in the place we call home. HVO’s plan would deliver around 1,500 ongoing jobs plus 600 temporary roles for infrastructure upgrades like the Lemington Road realignment. As well as contributing over a billion directly to the region it also supports around 800 suppliers keeping shops and services going in the local community.
Coal remains crucial for NSW’s energy needs, while the state transitions to renewable energy, coal-fired power stations continue to provide a significant portion of electricity, ensuring reliability and affordability during this shift. This project isn’t just about coal- it’s about keeping our families secure, our community thriving, and our energy needs met.

I strongly support the continuation of HVO and the extension of its contract. The project provides a safe and reliable work environment for employees while also contributing significantly to the local economy. HVO plays an important role in supporting local businesses, investing in community initiatives, and creating long-term opportunities for families in the region.
By extending this project, we can ensure stability for workers, maintain economic growth in the Hunter Valley, and continue to see positive investment into our communities.

I think the continuation of HVO is great for local communities. Mining has been great for some of my friends and family through both work and business and would love to see it continue in the hunter.
