I am currently working at HVO an the extension would mean the world to my family knowing the I could continue to work in such a great place possibly for the rest of my career. I am sure the other 1600 people that work there an the suppliers in the valley r dependent on the mine to make ends meet . We have proven that we can mine within all the restrictions that we have to abide buy an I am strongly in favour for the approval

I support this project as the continuation will continue to support myself and my family. This extension will be great in my opinion for the greater Hunter and Newcastle region as the large employment numbers and support businesses feed directly into the community.

I support the continuation of Hunter Valley Operations to preserve local jobs and economic contribution to the community. The loss of HVO would leave a devastating effect on the community.

The continuation project is vital for the local, state and country economy. I agree that something has to be done in benefit for the environment, but the deadline proposed is just not realistic.

Without Hunter Valley Operations and its extension, there will be mass job loses not only within the mine but a significant amount of local and Hunter Contractors and businesses will suffer.

This project is a key in the continued development of the Hunter valley as it will continue employing 1500 plus people and supporting the national economy with over 1.2 billion in taxes. Even thought this is 100 percent the best decision for the people of the Hunter valley it is without question that the mining company’s in nsw and Queensland have built the country we live in and continue to commit to the Australian people.

I am writing to express my support for the HVO Continuation Project as a local resident of Muswellbrook and an employee of HVO. Living in this community, I recognise the vital role that mining plays in our local economy. The HVO Continuation Project not only provides employment opportunities for many residents of the hunter community but also supports local businesses and services that depend on the economic activity generated by the mining industry.
Over the past eight years, HVO has funded more than 120 local projects with over $500,000, supporting initiatives such as the Cattle Dog Muster, film festivals, and junior sports programs. In 2024 alone, HVO has spent over $1 billion with suppliers and paid $276 million in taxes and royalties which helps support vital health and infrastructure projects across NSW.
Continuing mining operations at HVO is crucial for maintaining job security for myself and my colleagues, as well as ensuring the ongoing prosperity of our community. The HVO Continuation Project's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) outlines a robust set of environmental controls that will allow the project to proceed with industry-leading environmental stewardship. The proposed final landform includes an best practice rehabilitation strategy that ensures the land will be returned to a safe, stable, non-polluting, and productive post-mining land use, whether as a native ecosystem or farmland. HVO's commitment to rehabilitation is evident, with over 3,000 hectares already rehabilitated to date.
I urge you to consider the positive impacts that the HVO Continuation Project will have on our community and approve the project.

Coal mining, while often associated with environmental concerns, can have some positive aspects, especially when considering economic and community factors. Here are a few points highlighting the positive aspects of coal mining:
Economic Contributions: Coal mining can significantly contribute to local and national economies by providing jobs and supporting local businesses. It can be a vital source of income for communities that depend on the industry.
Energy Production: Coal is a major source of energy globally, providing a stable and reliable power supply. It plays a crucial role in electricity generation, particularly in regions where alternative energy sources may not yet be viable.
Technological Advancements: The coal industry has seen advancements in technology that improve safety and efficiency. Innovations in mining techniques and equipment can lead to reduced environmental impacts and improved worker safety.
Community Development: Mining companies often invest in community development projects, including infrastructure, education, and health services. This can lead to improved living conditions and opportunities for local residents.
Resource for Industry: Coal is not only used for energy but also as a raw material in various industries, including steel production. Its availability can support industrial growth and development.
Job Creation: The coal mining sector provides numerous jobs, from mining engineers to truck drivers, contributing to workforce development and vocational training opportunities.

I think that the continuation of HVO is a great asset to the hunter valley. We have multiple generation of miners working onsite which is great to see family traditions keeping our communities thriving and growing. The hunter valley is a great place to live and work and if mining dissolves we will surely see the slow deterioration of our local communities. I don’t want to see that as I grew up in the valley. HVO has a lot to offer the community donating to schools, sporting organisations and local government agents like our hospitals and westpac rescue helicopter.
