Penalty Notice issued to Centennial Mandalong Pty Limited (SSD-5144) Central Coast LGA
On 18 March 2022, the Department issued a $15,000 Penalty Notice to Centennial Mandalong Pty Limited (Centennial) for failure to comply with operation noise criteria at their Mandalong Coal Mine. Operation noise criteria were exceeded at two attended noise monitoring locations on 6 December 2021. The exceedances of criteria were determined to be the result of ventilation fans operating on the Mandalong South Surface Site (MSSS). Centennial are actively working on engineering controls to reduce any ongoing impacts and to ensure that noise levels remain compliant.

I am an employee of Mandalong Mine.
I live in the local area and all my four children have grown up are being educated in the local area.
My job at Mandalong is important to my family and I as it proves a steady income and security for the future.
I spend my salary in the local area on cars, groceries and appliances.
I am currently renovating my house and using local trade's people.
If the mine fails to get approval it will close 2018. The project extends that life to 2035.
The royalties that Mandalong pay to the State Government go towards providing services such police, nurses and hospital.
For every person that Mandalong employ another 5 people benefit (contractors and service providers)
Our subsidence management is world leading practice and we have a great rapport with the people that live in the Mandalong Valley. We have always maintained good consultation practices and have had zero complaints from residence for the whole of Longwall 14 and Longwall 15. In other words we don't destroy people's houses as we mine under them.
The project is lead by a team of professional engineers and project managers. The proposed mine plan is designed to continue to minimise the impacts to surface infrastructure and the environment.
