Penalty Notice issued to Centennial Mandalong Pty Limited (SSD-5144) Central Coast LGA
On 18 March 2022, the Department issued a $15,000 Penalty Notice to Centennial Mandalong Pty Limited (Centennial) for failure to comply with operation noise criteria at their Mandalong Coal Mine. Operation noise criteria were exceeded at two attended noise monitoring locations on 6 December 2021. The exceedances of criteria were determined to be the result of ventilation fans operating on the Mandalong South Surface Site (MSSS). Centennial are actively working on engineering controls to reduce any ongoing impacts and to ensure that noise levels remain compliant.

Hi This request is to lodge a complaint against Centennial Coal's Mandalong Mine Southern Extension, location of ventilation system. The proposed location is in the middle of land specified as Environmental Protection 7A and the increased traffic and noise is against the local zoning for the land.
The attraction of the property we purchased at 808 Mandalong Road, Mandalong in 1988 was for the serenity of the area and peacefulness. The development of the land for the purpose of the Ventilation and access roads will impact the local community and the environment.
We request the access to the area to come off the freeway to the location, not through the rural land zoned for Environmental Protection 7A.

I have worked in various underground operations since 1986 and Mandalong mine has shown to be very pro active in environmental protection. They have adhered to many stringent surface and underground standards in this regard. Being the father of 4 small children the Mandalong South Project would help to ensure their wellbeing. The local community will also benifit greatly as many jobs will be maintained in the local area.
