I support the 350m extension at Mount Thorley Warkworth. I am an employee at Mount Thorley Warkworth and have been for the last 6 years, I also have two children who work at Mount Thorley Warkworth. We depend on Mount Thorley Warkworth extension going ahead so we do not loose our jobs.
We need certainty. We've been wondering what the future holds now for four years. If this minor modification to an existing, 30 year old mine does not get approved, I am worried about what this will mean.

Dear Director,

I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.

I have worked at the mine for over two years as an operator. Like myself and the 1,300 or more employees families rely on the mines operation. The impact of Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine closing or downsizing would be devastating for my family, employees families, local communities and the Hunter Valley as a whole.

Mount Thorley Warkworth provides a stable income for over 1,300 full time employees in the Hunter Valley. And the operation of the mine reaches into many other businesses that supply MTW. Thousands of people depend on this mine and if production was to drop, the result could be devastating.

We need certainty. We've been wondering what the future holds now for fours. If this minor modification to an existing, 30 year old mine does not get approved, I am worried about what this will mean for local jobs and investment across the NSW mining industry.

Please accept this submission in support of the Warkworth Modification.

Regards,

Jade Barrett

Dear Minister
I write in support of the Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application that aims to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment for the many of us who work here.
I am the Safety Superintendent at the mine and have worked here for only 2 years. I moved to the Hunter Valley with the intent of being here at MTW for a considerable time contributng to not just the community of the mine but to the broader external community within the Valley and now that is in question.
There are literally more than a thousand of us who need certainty of employment and the waiting needs to end. Without this approval I do have to wonder as to the future not just for myself but for the many individuals and families who rely on MTW either driectly or indirectly for work and what that enables.
Please accept this submission in support of the Warkworth Modification and show us that we also matter.

I have worked in mining for 3 years as a professional providing services and the job provides me with a stable income to secure the future of my family

If the proposed modification is not approved, I may be cut off from the work force putting my family's future in jeopardy

I request you to carefully consider the socio economic impact of not granting approval for the modification and sincerely request you to grant approval

I openly support the extension to Mount Thorley Warkworth mine. I came to the Hunter Valley years ago to finish my career in the mining industry & moved my family to Doyles Creek to do so. I accepted a position with MTW & currently work in the Regional Asset Management group of the company. Without MTW & a strong future for the responsable mining industry I feel the general community would suffer greatly with the reduced investment that will ultimately come. This area has prospered to what it is today through mining investment. With out it I won't be the only one to suffer as my money then wont be spent in the community & it keeps going down the line.

RioTinto is amongst the most responsable of mining companys so I'm sure they can mine this area in a manner that suits the vast majority.

Dear Minister

I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment. I have been involved through a Contacting company with the Warkworth mine for a period of ten years now and I am worried if the extension is not approved on what this will mean for local jobs and investment across the NSW mining industry.Thousands of people depend on this mine and many other businesses that supply MTW.

Please accept this submission in support of the Warkworth Modification.

Dear Minister,

I have been employed at MTW for 6 years as a safety and trainng coordinator

My husband is in the motorcycle repair industry based in Singleton which is also supported by employees at MTW. My family's livelyhood and future is based on the longevity of the mine.

To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing this in support of the proposed extension of the Mt Thorley Warkworth. I like thousands of others rely on mining for our livelihoods. i have worked at the mine for the past 18 months, having just started a family i thought this would be a longterm secure position, and hope to be working here for a fair while longer yet. Without this extension many jobs both here directly and also other associated contracting frims will be placed in jeopardy, which is definetley no good, considering there are no jobs out there for people to go to. Mining is what has made the Hunter, NSW and Australia strong, and it needs to continue into the future, otherwise i think future economy growth with slow or decline, as no one will be willing to make financial commitments due to the current instability of the mining industry.
Thanks the Morgan Family

i have been emlpoyed wth the company full time for 5 years,i have a family, morgage and lively hood that i would like to maintain,my wifes job revolves around my shift work and my family is settled and has a future.
before i started i was a contractor moving all around NSW, i now have new licences and tikets for all sorts of things that allow me to work in and around the CHPP in varying roles, i would be devasted if i lost my job and the mine closed,
i have lots of friends in industries that the mine supports and have made new friends at work too.
this decision affects lots of people and lives.

I fully support the Warkworth Mine Extension. I have been employed at MTW since 1983 and this approval would guarantee further employment at the mine. Also there are 2 other members of my family employed at MTW.
MTW contributes $400M to the local community through wages and supporting local business.

My husband & I moved to the Hunter Valley to be closer to family as he received a transfer to MTW. We have purchased a home and hope to stay in the Hunter long term, without the MTW expansion we are likely to move interstte again for work.

I support mining in NSW.
I am concerned about the impact of government policies on our mining industry. Mining contributes a great deal to our state. It is the biggest export industry in NSW, provides tens of thousands of direct jobs, provides billions in royalties, and supports jobs in other industries like manufacturing. New layers of regulation and an increasingly complicated planning system threaten the industry in NSW and put our future prosperity at risk.
Miining in NSW is facing the toughest conditions in 20 years with many jobs lost in the last six months and many more could follow. While mining regions like the Hunter bear the brunt of these job losses, Sydney will also be affected as investment and revenue are lost to NSW

Dear Minister,

I support Coal & Allied's Warkworth Modification application to gain access to an additional 350m of land owned by the mine, to avoid a significant drop in production and employment.

I have worked at MTW for 27 years and started with my father working here for 18 years then retiring. I am currently in the heavy field team in a support role. I have family in Singleton all working and I have seen how the town is hurting with the reduction of jobs and the down turn in the industry. To shut down a mine now would cause a dominoe effect of job losses through the valley.
This mine provides alot of donations to local schools, sporting groups and the disadvantaged. It is a good place to work and is unique in the type of equipment it has hosting visits from around the world.
I have enjoyed my time at MTW and hoped to see out my career here. If it is forced to close I would have to leave the valley to chase work in Qld. where my talents could be used best.

If you don't approve the expansion of Mt Thorley/Warkworth it will affect thousands of people as NOBODY will be able to get a job.People will relocate to other parts of Australia ,the housing industry will be badly affected as well.Singleton and Muswellbrook will become ghost towns as small business's will be forced to close therefore creating more unemployment.
The mines were here first ,before many residents who are opposing this expansion.
