I strongly support this submission. It provides ongoing employment for many people in the coal industry including many colleagues who are deeply worried and concerned about job losses, their own positions included,

I'm also concerned about the lack of attention given to mental health issues which are manfiesting themselves with the job insecurity as a result of the delays to this project.

There have been many job losses in the Hunter Valley and it is difficult to find new jobs. House values have dropped and there are lots of rental places on the market - put yourself in the situation of a person who loses their job in the current environment and has a mortgage over their heads.

MTW is a well managed operation. People and systems are in place to effectively manage environmental issues. They are committed to ongoing improvement.

The ramications of not proceeding has much wider impacts than the court ruling. In my view the rulling had a very targeted and restricted base. It effects a lot of people

I fully support the Part3AMod for extension of Mount Thorley Warkworth. This approcal will allow the mine to continue for an additional two years and will secure jobs for both the local and wider community.

In my occupation as a Occupational Health Nurse I have observed an increase in stress, anxiety and depression in the miners that I deal with. This in part may be attributed to the unstable employment sector that impacts not only on employees but on their families and the community.

I believe job uncertainty is a major factor in the deteriorating mental and emotional health of men in the mining industry due to the social and economic impacts on themselves and their families. The impact of the downturn of the industry has been one thing to deal with; the impact of jobs-at- risk due to development delays is another.

The Warkworth Consent issue needs to be resolved so that mine employees and contractors can get their livelihood secured.

I implore the necessary parties to approve Coal & Allied's submission to protect the livelihood of the employees, small businesses and charitable organisations and their families who rely on Mt Thorley-Warkworth's continued existence in the community for which it has been a part of since 1981.

Over the past few years the Warkworth Mine has suffered due to political uncertainty, a non-existing planning approval process and moving goal posts. Give this mine and its employees a FAIR GO! I support this Warkworth Modification as an ex-employee and current Hunter Valley home owner.

I fully support this modification. It will allow WML time to review options for the future of Warkworth Mine whilst maintaining production and employment levels.
Further, the EA demonstrates the environmental acceptability of
the proposed modification, and indicates there would be no significant adverse social, economic or environmental
impacts.

i have been working at Mt Thorley for the last 24 months and i am 52 years of age. If this extension does not go through i have a 90% chance of being unemployed. With the current unemployment status in the Hunter future employment would be extremely difficult. We need this extension ie. The hunter & my family

I support the project. I work for a contracting company and have been working at mt Thorley warkworth for 4 years.

We need this project to be approved to keep our jobs and jobs for the future.

This is part of a bigger project that has already been approved by state, national regulators.

I live locally and mining is important to support the town and businesses.

If the Warkworth extension does not proceed, this will will impact the livelihood on many employees, contractors, suppliers, etc.. and all of their families who rely on the Mine for their security. I have workrd here for a number of years now on Projects that are helping the Mine with its Rehabilitation, i would like this to continue to help sustain its life and give back to the community.

I strongly support the Warkworth Consent 2003 - Modification 6. The extension being applied for addresses community concerns of near neighbours to the MTW mine. It is reasonable to extend the mine and ensure the continuity of empoyment for a large number of Hunter Valley residents. It also ensures continuing high level of royalties for the sate government.

As a contractor employed at Mt Thorley-Warkworth mine for the last 4 years,I am strongly in favour of the extension to the mine. The extension would not only secure the jobs of those employed directly at the mine, but also all those employed indirectly, well into the future. When you consider the amount of money injected into the local economy in wages and also the state coffers through royalties, remebering that the original expansion application in 2003 was approved by all the relevant government bodies,I think the approval of the modification is essential

Hi ,

I am writing to you to express my concern about losing my job and ask for your help. Im one of 1300 workers at Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine and work in the Washery. I have been working here for 5 years since graduating from university as a mechanical engineer.

I had hoped to live and work in the Hunter Valley. But since the disapproval of the mines extension my job could be next to go. MTW now needs a small extension to allow us to operate for 2 more years without major reductions in teh workforce. I have already witnessed several of my collegues leave due to the current coal price and can see what effect the downturn is having on my home town of Singleton with shops closing their doors.

I believe the early closure of MTW without reaching its potential will have a large effect on the local community and the state of NSW due to the wages and royalties it provides.

I understand MTW has gone through all the required approval stages to continue operating and hope you can assist approving the continued operation and the additional 350m of land as soon as possible before I am out of work.

Regards

Riley

I wish to express my support for the modifications to the warkworth Mine Development Consent. Over many years Warakworth Mount Thorley mine has provided stable employment for over seven hundred largely local employees and over three hundred contract employees. It makes a substantial contribution to the local and state economy and is a responsible member of the community.
