More = more money for everyone
I am a young teenage daughter who has a father and a step mother who both have worked at this mine for a combined 45 years. My father has always done what is best for me and without employment at this mine, none of this would have been possible. I also have friends form school and sport that are also involved in this mine one way or another and their lives would be dramatically altered if this expansion does not take place. Therefore it is vital for the Australian economy and my life for this mine to expand.

Due to the amount of livelihoods that could potentially be affected substantially if the extension isn't approved, and the thousands of potential job losses not just on the site but the flow on effect of other businesses that have contracts to the mine, I definitely support the extension submission. Also because of the millions of dollars that it brings into the community every year

My brother is an employee of Mount Thorley Warkworth who is raising a family in the Hunter Valley, I would like to say that mines like this one have to be supported by the community and government.
These are the biggest employers in the region and, I believe, the lifeblood of the region.
The benefits to the community and the state are far reaching and without them the Hunter Valley would not be the great place that it is.
Mount Thorley Warkworth directly employs more than 1300 people and indirectly supports thousands more.
My brothers' family, and many more, depend on Mount Thorley Warkworth.
Without a certain future my brother is simply unable to make the best decisions for his family's future until he is convinced his job is not at risk and the mine is going to be operating for many more years to come.
It's time we look at what mining has done for the progress and people of the region and make sure we are doing everything possible to support mining and the positive contribution it makes the lives of people in the Hunter.

I have grown up in the Hunter Valley all my life. My Parents moved here in the late 70's and have been involved in the mining industry ever since. So i know the area and how mining has and continues to play its part.
Growing up in town i was never sure where i would end up but thought mining offered alot of opportunity World wide. I studied mining and as it turns out came back to the Hunter to work in the industry. I took this offer over other opportunities outside of NSW because of what the Hunter Valley has to offer and because i love to live here.
This approval is about the continuation of a local Coal mine which has been mining for 30 years. It has supplied jobs, infrastructure and revenue to the local area and will continue to do so until the end of the mines life. This approval is only a good thing and the major beneficiaries are the hunters people.
The region cannot afford to neglect this mine and close the doors on the continuation of mining at Mount Thorley Warkworth. The outcome will directly affect the other mining opportunities in the Hunter. We are a coal mining region and always will be.

I believe that the MTW expansion should go ahead as this directly affects me and my family. With the expansion there are many positive outcomes not just to the employees and their family's but the flow on affect continues to the local communities surrounding the mine plus the businesses big and small who are directly or indirectly associated with the mines but as well as small businesses that are not directly associated with mines.
I believe especially in this state of the economy large layoff's are not in the country's best interest.
With the large amount of resource here at MTW this should be taken into account.

In my opinion I believe this extension should be approved as this would create job security for current employees and also help the local business and community.

Because i enjoy working in the mining industry and have now worked at Mt Thorley site for 8 years and dont wish to work elsewhere. the reason i want the extension is also for the flow on effect that the closure of the mine will have on the broader community for i have already had two family members lose their jobs through the downturn so far.

i'd like the submission to be approved because i represent not just myself but a whole family unit, my family relies soley on my employment at Warkworth, we live locally, educate locally and spend the income in various ways including mortgage locally. We have become fond of the area and the people of the Hunter and should we not get the approval would have to move. Please think of not only the workers but also the families, friends and and the broader reach every single one of us have in this community.

I would like the extension approval to be approved because the company employs 1500 people who live locally and spend their money in the surrounding country towns supporting the economy and also donating funds to the local schools. Without the extension there will be a lot of families directly impacted by losing their jobs and could even lose their family home
